To begin with, our presence in Afghanistan had nothing to do with cleaning up a mess. It was about containment. Our presence was strategic, and minimal, providing critical air and intelligence support to Afghani troops. Complete US troop withdrawal needed to be conditional, and it needed to come with the understanding that it would be rapidly reversed if any "chaos" ensued.

The actions taken by mr. Biden have far reaching consequences, all of them negative to the United States. Mr. Biden's actions have cost the US its standing in the world, have made the US much less safe, have directly imperiled tens of thousands of Americans, have allowed billions of dollars in critical military assets to fall into enemy hands, and have greatly strengthened our most powerful enemies. This has been the biggest fuck up on a world stage of any president since at least the bay of pigs invasion, and frankly, in all ways this one

I know very little about foreign policy. The one thing about your post I disagree with (or at least doesn’t make sense to me) is how the US is less safe now.

Not getting the weapons out beforehand and not safely evacuating Americans before pulling out seems like the most boneheaded shit our regime could do.
