ZTF balled out in 2020 after he played sparingly as a RS Frosh in 2019 to the tune of 7 sacks in just 3 games for the Dawgs.
Serves as the inspiration of this post...
Who do you think will be a surprise contributor in 2021 for the Dawgs?
My prediction is Sophomore TE Devin Culp
It seemed pretty clear watching the Spring Game that they aim to feature Culp in the passing game. He presents a Hunter Bryant type mismatch with ++ mobility for his size. He's simply a freak if you get the ball in his hands in space... evident as he was featured as a kick off returner and running back at Gonzaga Prep. With opposing D's giving a lot of attention to Otton, Culp could exploit a lot 1 on 1's and mismatches.

If Turner learns how to wrap up he will be a baller. He is constantly around the ball.

RB DAVIS
DB Irvin
DB Hampton
Some wide receiver
Some inside linebacker
Dylan Morris
If Culp actually gets significant snaps I'll be really surprised. My guess is he's one in a long line of spring game stars who they've already moved on from. -

I'm not sold on Irvin. Think he was way overhyped coming out.chuck said:RB DAVIS

I like the ILB thought though. Hoping Daniel Heimuli gets an opportunity to show what he can do. -
I sure hope it’s Sirmon.

I'm not sold on him either. It would be retarded to be so. What has he done? No, I'm just giving him a chance is all. He has good size, good speed, was a great player in HS who could have gone anywhere, and was in the depth as a true frosh AHEAD of Kyler Gordon. That's enough to tell me he could be a player still and he certainly hasn't done anything to prove otherwise.BroadcastingDawg said:

From the individual player standpoint, I think its davis, and gawd help us one of the unsung inside line backers.
From a coaching game management standpoint the most pleasant and unexpected surprise [at least by me] would be the emergence of 3 factors:
1. the ability to demonstrate the ability for the offensive coordinator to game plan for how to effectively punish the opposing defense for stacking the box
2. the ability of the OC to demonstrate the timing knack and the scheme flexibility to pick up the blitz and make the big play.
3. A change in DC strategy to add in the blitz and mix up the 3 and 4 man front packages to introduce uncertainty at key moments -

Bralen Trice was consistently flashing in the spring game

One of the running backs needs to takeover. My guess is Cam Davis. The OL should give him plenty of opportunities to stay on the field.
