When highly rated players leave Washington

Jonathan Stewart 5* - went to Oregon, drafted in the 1st round by Carolina... had a great NFL career.
Anthony Felder 4* - went to Cal, solid player for the Bears but went undrafted.
Leon Jackson 4* - went to Hawaii, seldom used RB who went undrafted... now coaches Pasco's HS team.
Taylor Mays 5* - went to USC, was a star in college and went in the 2nd round of the draft, fell off fast and was out of the NFL in no time.
Stephen Shilling 4* - went to Michigan, was mediocre at best, went in the 6th round and bounced around practice squads.
Deandre Coleman 4* - went to CAL, was mediocre, went undrafted and signed as a udfa.
Jake Heaps 5* - went to BYU, was horrible and transferred to 2 other schools, went undrafted and was a practice squad guy for years, now has his own radio show on KJR.
Josh Garnett 4* - went to Stanford, was very good and was drafted in the 1st round, was horrible in the NFL.
Zach Banner 4* - went to USC, was only mediocre at SC and drafted in the 4th round as a result, has stuck around the NFL, plays for Pittsburg.
Kivarae Russell 4* - went to Notre Dame and was pretty darn good, drafted in the 3rd round, was the highest drafted player to get cut in the 2016 draft before the season started

Cedric Dozier 4* - went to CAL and then transferred to KState, had a poor college career, went undrafted.
Max Browne 5* - went to USC and was dreadfully bad, transferred to Pitt and was still bad, tried to follow Heaps into media but it hasn't worked out.
Myles Jack 4* - went to UCLA and had a great career as a 2 way player, was drafted in the 2nd round because of a knee injury, has been solid but nothing special for the Jags.
Devante Downs 4* - went to CAL and had a solid career, was drafted in the 7th round and is still floating around NFL rosters.
Brett Rypien 4* - went to Boise St where he was solid but went undrafted. Has started some in the NFL but looks like a career backup.
Jacob Eason 5* - went to UGA where he started as a frosh but struggled, transferred to UW after an injury, had a decent junior season at UW, was drafted in the 4th round and is the backup in Indy.
Foster Sarrell 5* - went to Stanford, sucked for 4 years, injury plagued, went undrafted, signed as a UDFA in Baltimore.
Connor Weddington 4* - went to Stanford, was good initially and then tailed off, went undrafted, signed as a UDFA in Seattle.
Treshaun Harrison 4* - went to Florida St. where had average production, transferred to lowly Oregon St. where he's still had average production.
Darien Chase 4* - went to Nebraska, got no playing time, transferred to Portland State.
Gee Scott 4* - went to Ohio St. where he's gotten no playing time, is switching to Tight End cause that's a good sign for a 4* wideout.
Levi Rogers and DJ Rogers are are incomplete

Looks like the Star rating system sucks as an indicator of future football success

Looks like we dodged a bullet not getting JTT!

Buddah Baker came to Washington at the last minute and is a star
-
Where you getting Heaps as a 5 star? Composite has him at 95 overall, 247 has him at 90 overall, both solidly four star range.
Irregardless, fantastic post and one UW's coaches should have on standby. -
Was there a bigger meltdown than Foster going to Stanford? I knew that guy was gonna suck. I am certain there were a few people that had to have mental health checks when he announced to the tree. But he got a Stanford education at no charge!

This post seems good on the surface, but there's one important question unanswered. What would have happened if Ivan had gotten ahold of them?

Cherry picking though. -
Mays might have been an Ivan guy too, not sure on that and don't care enough to research it.chuck said:

I only brought that in because it makes me laugh everytime I think about Sark dragging his whole failed crew with him to USC. -
JTT has been an ongoing meltdown. Didn't quite have the burst damage meltdown like Foster did but over a long period of time I think the JTT one takes the cake.jecornel said:Was there a bigger meltdown than Foster going to Stanford? Not for me. It looks absurd now but that crushed my soul. Years later, the knowledge that he flamed out spectacularly warms the doogiest reaches of my heart. In hindsight, Fozzy being present and on the UW sideline for the 2016 UW-Stanford game and still committing to Stanford should have been the biggest indicator he was a giant vagina and hated football.jecornel said:Was there a bigger meltdown than Foster going to Stanford?
Great thread too. I'd be curious to see the inverse of this -- local star players who stayed at UW. -
Looks like WA in-state talent is highly overrated.
