I'd be more encouraged if they were saying they were seriously questioning their political beliefs that created the climate of social decline to occur in the first place. Because you're right, they are all moving elsewhere and are more than willing to infect other parts of the country with the same brand of liberalism that brought about SF's decline.
In all honesty SF should liberal paradise if their policies actually worked. They've priced out most middle class people and people with families. School funding isn't an issue, because there are so few kids in the city. They've priced out most of the criminal element that plagues places like Oakland. In fact many of the criminals and thugs arrested in SF don't live in SF. Their lax policies on homelessness along with a generous "free" goodies programs and their unwillingness to prosecute people who commit crimes, has been a magnet for the homeless dirt-bags who are killing the quality of life for the law abiding citizens of the city. -
