Darkhorse candidate for most important loss: 1999 at UCLA.
Win that one and go to the RB.
Just as importantly, Ty WIllingham doesn't.
Perhaps a W and back to back RBs either a. protects RN's job enough that he makes it through 2003 before getting fired b. at least knocks Ty down enough that he never leaves Stanford and becomes a national icon after failing at ND, preventing him from ever being handed the keys at Montlake.
