Washington's Big recruiting weekend

Ditto for Kato hire at TE. I have been beyond stunned that several of his hires look like we are running a internship for college grads the semester b4 they graduate.Tequilla said:

He hired Bob Gregory as his DC so my answer is yes. If that move along with hiring a GA as our DL coach doesn't tell you about his thinking and the direction of the program then I can't help you.RaceBannon said:

That would require Jimmy actually talking to the recruits.RaceBannon said:Jimmy should sell recruits on how bad UW is at developing talent
Do you think he wants to get fired?

So as DB coach how was he able to have the success he had in recruiting? So many of the kids he closed talked about how involved and engaged he was.sonics1993 said:
He only interacts when they are on campus or close to committing outside a couple of big-time recruits but even then he isn't consistent. Ask Emeka about his relationship with Jimmy compared to Day and Riley.insinceredawg said:

Big Picture, you are painting a scenario (which from the outside I would agree with) in which this can't end well for Jimmy here. Is this growing pains of a 1st time HC, who can learn and adapt, or is this who he is and he won't or can't change.

Sometimes when you get moved up you think that other shit is now beneath you. “I have people for that”godawgst said:

Why do you feel confident about Morrison?sonics1993 said:
I got all five going to Washington but not fully confident in Tafiti because of Stanford.bluechipuwrecruits said:Of the 6 visitors max, how many of those do you think will end up committing?

Mark Helfrich was a two time national qb coach of the year (2010, 2012) and you saw how he did as a head coach.godawgst said:

A lot of people don’t know that the HC is limited what he can do with recruits. Its the assistant coaches that do all of the heavy lifting. -
Helf doesn't have the makeup for a HC. He's a good offensive mind and wish he was our OC.dOgmaster said:

TruBlu knows college coaches and had a run in with one from Oregon State who didn't allow facial hair which framed his opinion of Helfrich.
Maybe if Helfrich told TruBlu to shave, he would have earned his respect. But it was Helfrich who was the head guy when Washington scored 70 at Autzen. Honestly no big deal anymore to Husky fans but judging from what we know about TruBlu, some Husky fan hurt his feelings that day. Kim Grinolds from Dawgman memorialized the day with a limited edition coffee cup. Hence, Tru's bitterness.
You see, Trublu can't let these things go. I'm sure there's more to it. This time maybe his DuckBros weren't around to keep TruBlu safe, so he had to keep his yap shut or risk the big beat down. For that one day, he couldn't go on and pop off and it ate at him. He seethed. He's carried it around since and no one is immune. Mark Helfrich, well, fuck him. He embarrassed TruBlu. And you don't embarrass TruBlu. You don't tell him to shave. You don't discriminate against him because he's black, even though he isn't. You don't make him watch his team lose, like the Beavs did in the late 70's when it was three yards and a cloud of dust and they couldn't score. No. No, hell no. You don't do that to Trublu. You just don't.
There were some awful, terrible things that happened in the mid-late 1980's. So awful, Trublu can't talk about them and never will. He saw things with his own eyes and he didn't forget. He never will. Things happened and they were really bad. Maybe the worst thing that ever happened in a stadium, anywhere. Things happened and they were bad.
Mark Helfrich almost won a natty as Oregon's HC. High powered offense and everything. Heisman winning QB, closest thing Oregon had to a Natty winner but you don't embarrass Trublu. Helfrich did and it was really bad. You don't cross TruBlu. He ran in Hayward stadium in HS. Damone didn't even run in Hayward until college. TruBlu was a D-1 athlete, not a star but he was a D1 athlete and has proof. He has proof and he will show you proof. He would have been a star if that coach didn't discriminate against him and tell the black and white players, "No facial hair allowed." Took years for that peach fuzz to show. Tru looked in the mirror and saw a man and then that coach came along, the one that wouldn't allow facial hair. Worst two years of Tru's life was in Corvallis. Tru likes Jonathan Smith who if he played the entire game against UW, OSU would have won. Smith played the entire game and Tru knows more about OSU sports. If you want to debate him, he's your Huckleberry. The game was 21 years ago and no one cares, except Tru.
That's why Tru doesn't like Helf.

Eklund is predicting Megwa, Roberts, and Morrison as having "very high" chances of committing while Tafiti, Otton, and Holtzclaw are given "high" chances of committing.
1-what retarded name will the dawgman posters give to this event if it happens?
2-how many of these guys will get home after committing and immediately start planning their official visits to other schools? -
I've already seen "St. Jimmy Day Massacre". Really creative stuff over there.bananasnblondes said:Eklund is predicting Megwa, Roberts, and Morrison as having "very high" chances of committing while Tafiti, Otton, and Holtzclaw are given "high" chances of committing.

I’d switch Otton and Morrison on that list as we already have his bro

Man, reading through the posts here is like sifting through dog diarrhea in shag carpet because maybe, just maybe, there might be something valuable amongst the waste. I'm happy to clarify a few things...at least from my perspective...but I will tell you from the outset, I'm not going to break any news that isn't mine to break. What I am told in confidence is going to remain as such.
Coach Lake does speak to recruits. He is very involved with the process. We spent an hour or more with him talking ball, life, etc. He is genuine and personable. As my son went through the recruiting process, I was surprised to learn that that is somewhat of a rarity in college coaching. He, like coach Huff are very easy to relate to...very likeable.
UW campus is incredible. But if you've seen it, you know that already.
We had a chance to walk out onto the new turf. That stadium is incredible. The thought of 72k screaming lunatics in the stands is enough to give even the dead goosebumps.
Coach Socha and his staff are dialed in. The technology and resources available to UW players...to help make them better athletes...is second to none.
Decommitments, in my opinion, say a lot more about the recruit than the staff. UW doesn't make a ton of offers. They made 7 offers to IOL. They don't make a ton offers because each and every offer is meaningful. Why a kid would decommit because he received an "offer" from a school that made 40+ offers to IOL is baffling to me.
Anyhow, I have to cut this short.
Go DAWGS! -
Thanks for the info and your presence here! We’re here because we love this program and/or are hopeless lifers. Right now is especially testy because we’re likely about to lose a generational local kid and that sucks. The squad looks pretty promising for this season though.
Good to hear the positive perception of Jimmy. We have high hopes for him and his tenure is still relatively young. Hope you stick around despite the towel slapping and general rancor.
