I worked with an Sgt. in a local Sheriff’s Office on several search warrants many years ago.
Great human being . . . Great Deputy Sheriff with many years of experience. Wonderful family, wife and three kids.
In a split second, his life changed. While responding to a domestic disturbance he was shot in the face and his life and the life of his family (wife and three children) was changed forever. The shooter was a 15-year-old meth user with serious mental health issues.
The Sgt. was 42.
It’s been 18 years since the shooting. The Sgt, who was a very big man (not fat) suffered brain damage, is confined to a wheelchair and still requires 24 X 7 (around-the-clock) care.
The money $$$ ($1M) the county paid him & his family didn’t last very long.
