No one cares about the oscars. their ratings have to be down like 80 percent right? It used to be a thing.

I assume Nomadland and the black dude who died won.
The Script.

Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor, not Chadwick Boseman.

Nomadland made me want to blow my brains out. So depressing.BennyBeaver said:

You should go watch it on loop, @BennyBeaver.

oscar just needs more tim to get his guys in there! -
I think I flipped to it 2x ...
Was greeted with a bunch of SJW talk instead of talking about the movies and performances ...
Would have been far better if Ricky Gervais was there ...
Or Kevin Hart ...
Imagine cancelling Kevin Hart ... -
Hollywood and the big paydays are in their death throes. No more $200 million production cost movies like Wonder Woman 1984. No more $10 million pay days for Gal Gadot. Hardly one of these limited talent overpaid directors, writers, producers and "stars" thought to ponder what killing off the movie theaters would mean. Say hello to much smaller salaries from the splintered streaming services.

Did Leo give an epic speech about global warming and did everyone stand up and clap?
-
All I heard is that the Chinese woman director who was critical of China at one of the earlier award shows didn't say shit about China at the Oscars. Another profile in courage moment.
-
You have to admit it was a bit of a down year for new movie releases. I watched a little bit of Nomadland and turned it off. If I wanted to be that depressed and miserable, I'd be more like Bob.

You don’t live in the Bay Area or CA.
Last I heard, you lived in Idaho.
Big difference, Dodo. -
He moved to Idaho because he said he didn't like living near a lot black people.trublue said:You don’t live in the Bay Area or CA.

Exact opposite. The $200 mil movies aren’t going anywhere. The mid budget $30-40 million types are basically dead. Those are now on the streaming platforms and that will continue.WestlinnDuck said:Hollywood and the big paydays are in their death throes. The big paydays haven’t gone anywhere. It’s the little guy that gets fucked. More jobs because of streaming, but less money. No kushy sitcom roles on the major networks. Those don’t pay much now.
All you need is a superhero and/or comic book bullshit for the kids in China and India to come out in droves. The big budget action movies will soon be the only movies that make it to theaters. -
That and Pixar. As long as we are procreating, Pixar will always make money.RoadDawg55 said:

Those movies are way better than the Superhero bullshit. I haven’t watched all of them, but most the ones I have watched were good.greenblood said:

When I watched Inside Out, I thought it was one of the most brilliant scripts of all time. The writer/writers of that movie are obviously insanely talented and smart people.
I really hope they don’t go full woke bullshit and remember they make movies for kids that don’t give a shit about hot button, bullshit issues. We have to stop giving so much credence to everything we see online or on the news. Most of it is highly dramatized and often fictional. -
