Apparently "academics" never leave school because they're never able to figure out life.
Becoming an academic or academic administrator seems to be the functional equivalent to a career in mom's basement. Sheltered, infantilized, provided for, zero competition, and acting smart and powerful toward people decades younger than them whom, try as they might, they'll never be able to compete with.
