From the plains of Nebraska, to the dugout in Pittsburg; legendary baseball manager Clint Hurdle is a leader of men.
Years ago when the Pirates hit a tough stretch, no one would have faulted Hurdle and his young players had they quit. But Clint Hurdle is not a quitter.
At the Pirates darkest hour, Hurdle called a players' only meeting. The players formed a semi-circle around the center of the visitors' clubhouse.
When Hurdle entered, a hush fell over the room.
Hurdle made eye contact with every player, bobbing his head, he let the moment sink in.
With a fire in his voice, he imparted this wisdom. "If you suck one dick," the impassioned Hurdle told his players "it doesn't make you a cocksucker."
Thanks for the memories. Go ahead and end this thread.

They improve technique in many cases, but not all. Pussies remain pussies though, and you're not watching if you don't think he's a pussy.backthepack said:
Everything he does is to minimize risk of contact that isn't entirely on his terms. He intentionally engages blockers or drifts into useless positioning rather than risking being isolated on the RB in the hole. It's painfully obvious. He only likes contact where he can pick and choose who and how he engages.
He's completely useless against the run. You don't have to be a big hitter, but you have to be a willing one and also willing to drag a guy down with you as you get steam rolled. Do you see Turner developing in those areas?

I'm holding out hope he was hiding an injury last year. He's half Poly and Polys are generally not pussies.chuck said:

I agree it doesn't look good. -
Yeah, like Tom Rinaldi would ever post here. Pathetic!TomRinaldisPiano said:

He didn’t cover for anyone. He’s a pussy.backthepack said: -
I thought good teams are abandoning the run for the spread. Saban said so.GreenRiverGatorz said:

We don't hate him because of his true freshman year. We hate him because of his glaring softness in his four game sophomore year. I've never seen a safety shy away from contact like he did at the college level. So there's not really a precedent. Maybe he can shake it off and find his balls. Or maybe he's fundamentally broken.backthepack said: -
I saw it as alarming when he clearly wanted to go to Note Dame but was hesitating because they wanted to put him in the box.GreenRiverGatorz said:
I think he has revealed what kind of player he is. He should have been a boundary CB at best, or better yet a receiver. I think he's just a guy who's physical tools don't match his mentality. Doesn't make him a bad guy, just one without a position. -
I think he needs Bookie to give him the ol’ Pharms piss down his own leg, “scared straight” treatment.
-
Wow. I thought these guys were kidding about these takes.backthepack said: -
He’s a sophomore dude. He’ll be fine.Jdawg1991 said: -
Maybe. He obviously isn't a war daddy type who will throw his body around unless a low risk cheap shot is served up. He needs a transformation that few football players his age can still make...into a tough player. The odds are stacked against him. Football hurts and a guy obviously trying to avoid pain has little chance.backthepack said: -
Lol good god this isn’t 1980s football anymore dude. He’s a guy that can matchup with tight ends in coverage and play his deep 3rd responsibilities. He doesn’t need to be Kam Chancellor, that’s not his role. He was fine in the box as freshmen.chuck said:
-
Everything matters. You don't have to be Cam Chancellor to not be a pussy. It's not an either or.backthepack said:
He was shit in the box as a frosh. He came in late with a headhunting forearm or two (missed) and lucked unto a pick and everyone here stroked themselves with excitement just like they did Chris Hemphill who was basically the same player. -
Did you expect a 6”4 180lb that virtually had to play linebacker because Manu and Welly were so shit to be a world beater dude? He was serviceable.chuck said:

It’s a mentality. I hope Asa can turn it around, but that doesn’t happen often. Dude doesn’t appear to have the throat feces.🤷♂️

Nice find. Did not age well.Jdawg1991 said:
He was not average at run fits or getting people down. He was bad. He could get better. LAN got way better over the years but it’s not looking good for him. -
LAN was saved when Petersen and Lake moved him into the slot and then outside. He was horrible as a safety, but lucky for him he had low 4.4 speed and crazy good short area quickness to go with his lanky 6'3" frame. I dont think a switch to corner is going to be Turner's ticket. He has to get tough.AtomicDawg said:

LAN? Local Area Network?

I mean he's from Carlsbad... its not exactly a rough place.

2020s football still allows hitting. Someone should inform Asa.backthepack said: -
Nobody needs him to a big hitter. We just need him to bring people down and not AVOID contact. Safeties and linebackers typically lead the team in tackles. They shouldn’t be avoiding them.GreenRiverGatorz said:

He was bad. He’s a horrible tackler and is soft.backthepack said: -
Turner is thus far the epitome of “ looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane”.
