HBO is still a thing?

New owners are trying desperately to fuck it up and make this not the case, but there's still some residual awesomeness there. Their His Dark Materials adaptation is fucking excellent, even if most of the casting decisions outside of child actors are total shit.TommySQC said:HBO is still a thing?
At some point, they'll complete their transition to another Netflix, and that'll be a damned shame. -
St Francis is a school in Baltimore that backs up to a reform school. They couldn't afford football anymore. This big old white guy who ran a hedge fund and coaches high school football offered to pay for the program. He came in and started recruiting and built a IMG type national powerhouse in a Baltimore Catholic league. He had won 8 titles in a row at a white school recruiting players and no one said a word.
When he did it at St. Francis the rest of the league decided to forfeit instead of play them. That is the underpinning of the race angle and the fact that the coach is white. But he's spending his money and its not like he's trying to climb the ladder on the backs of the players. He's been at it three years and every senior has gone to college either athletic or academic scholarships
The show covers the 2019 season where they played a national schedule. Came out to the OC and got their ass kicked by Mater Dei and Bryce Young now at, wait for it, Alabama
They did crush IMG. Mater Dei is better than both of them showing just how rich the So Cal talent is and why Dabo and Nick are out here now
Anyway its worth a watch. 2 hours total -

I’ll have to check it out, just read up on it. Some crazy stuff, the coach is named Biff Poggi and he made millions in hedge funds. I would have guessed a guy named Biff is more of a Ponzi scheme type.
St. Frances in Baltimore, eh? Oregon has attempted recruiting there.
The results have okay, but I wouldn’t go as far as to they’ve been killing it. Trying to, at least.

I have HBO Max and it's worth every cent just to have all seasons of Curb Your Enthusiasm. There's some other decent stuff on there tho.TommySQC said:HBO is still a thing?
