Or invest in them.

I am not up on biotech but I did dump PFE a few months ago. LLY is pricey but has caught my eye, recently.RoadTrip said:Any of you savvy investors up on this space? What are you looking at in biotech? It does seem promising and intriguing. But, ya, it seems early and mostly unproven.
I usually start with a published list and go from there. Like this.

Anyone? Interesting topic

Last twenty years Pfizer stock has made a round trip from high of 50 to teens back to where it's at now, so return b4 dividends is a big fat zero.EwaDawg said:

Seems hard to do but they have.
I like Amgen and Abbv here with dividends over 3% and are cheap compared to industry average and even more so versus S and P
Bigger flier would be Gilead for Cap Appreciation, but they are in penalty box of not having a great pipeline so have had to overspend for their growth.

I love investing (gambling) in them but hesitate giving advice...easy space to win or lose big. If you are a gambling man there are some good follows on Twitter...pm me and I’ll give you some. I say that but my biggest bet right now in the space is ignored by them so who knows...RoadTrip said:Any of you savvy investors up on this space? ABUS originally owned a good chunk of the technology for a lot of the mRNA space that developed this...a big unknown is if Moderna is violating their patents or not. Either way they should shoot their former CEO for giving up most of the technology (to a private firm Genovant) to chase HepB...they still own 17% or so. Bought some at $3...not sure I would at higher prices though.

Twenty years ago was about when I stopped being a buy and hold investor. As I have said before, I trade relatively short term within my Roth IRA and my wife's retirement accounts.godawgst said:

And, yes, I sold my PFE near the recent peak of around $40.
I own AMGN as it was in my wife's retirement account when I transferred her assets to a brokerage account. I sold what didn't look good and kept what I liked.
I'll check out GILD. ABBV looks interesting. Thanks,

Like you grew up on buy and hold. Much more leary to tell a 20 something to do that Unless it's for their 401k/retirement then go put it in a index fund wake up 40 years later and be astounded and grateful at what it's worth.EwaDawg said:

Joking have said only Pfizer could come up with a vaccine to stop/kill/help cure a worldwide virus and it's stock price be BELOW where they started on the journey to do so.
The whole biotech sector is depressed from a P/E and valuation standpoint.
Always chuckle when people cry about the evil Pharm Companies and a little pill that costs .25 to make is $15 a piece when to get a pill to market and start making money it will cost a billion dollars for R/D, trials, etc and for every one that makes it 5-10 don't ever get out of Phase 1/2/3 trials so that money goes up in flames.

Ya. I don't understand WHY PFE tanked but I sell when I notice that an analyst or two has downgraded one of my holdings. People are sheep.godawgst said:

When I bought it I thought I would hold it at least a few months longer.

Just got a nice pay day today from Zynerba. I also put some play money on Assertio, Novan, and Opko Health. We'll see...

That's not the bad part. The bad part is when they come up with stereoisomers, prodrugs and extended release versions with minimal additional efficacy and get doctors who are ignorant to cost to switch everyone over before the original drug loses patent exclusivity. Or when they take two cheap OTC drugs, combine them and somehow get an NDC and convince doctors to write scripts because it's more convenient for a patient to swallow one pill than two. Oh yeah, and then that $20/month combo becomes $2k/month. Or when they lobby Congress to not allow Medicare to negotiate on price.godawgst said:

The solutions on the horizon are not good for the drug companies, who have been fleecing Americans while subsidizing the rest of the world for years.

GILD’s Yescarta shows promise but has some nasty impacts on folks...they are working with some companies to improve on that. Couple other Car T plays behind them as well...BennyBeaver said:I’m hearing T cells will cure cancer.
