Oregon's Covid Natty
Not a loaded question here... Why is this? Is Oregon a "healthier" state overall? Are we? good little rule followers?

And Utahans, as you well know, are conditioned to do whatever the LDS Big Guy says and are notoriously gullible for any number of scams.

I'd say largely rural and good rule followers. Talked yesterday to a fraternity brother who was the crazy party guy. Basically was Belushi (Animal House was filmed in my fraternity and he was in it). He has been locked up for a year and never goes out. Just stunned. I've been everywhere and have avoided every covid restriction I can get away with. I've always taken Vitamin D and started on zinc as soon as the news was out. Got the J&J single stab on Friday. Looking forward and not backward.

But why should Oregon have faired far better than Idaho? Like half the deaths.PurpleThrobber said:

And for the record, 25% of Idaho is in communion with the Bishop of Salt Lake. -
My guess is health and wellness, aren't these some of the healthier states. Also don't old people retire to Idaho?
I want to know how the bum populations survived the pandemic, maybe the secret is there. -
Good question. If we had some sort of national disease organization that had billions in funding and and had an huge degree of scientific intellectual curiosity we might have an answer. Washington started of hot with a huge nursing home outbreak. No clue about Idaho. Having just spent a week in White Wakanda, Bend has a huge different feel than suburban Portland. Maybe because I was hanging with my daughter and future son in-law and their friends, but still not as much fear as here in Portland.YellowSnow said:

I think people in the pacific northwest are generally healthier.

The obvious
State Government lies about the deaths. All well planned out, make it look bad leading up to the election and after getting the agenda headed the correct political way, tell the truth a little.

Bend has felt very relaxed compared to PDX or SEA. Most everyone wanted schools open. When the extreme regs weren't in place, most bars and restaurants were busy (as they could be during Covid times). Hotels were running at 99% OCC last summer. We hang out with the neighbors a lot sans masks, but it's always outside for the most part.WestlinnDuck said:

My theory on Oregon: healthy population compared the rest of the country and vulnerable citizens taking necessary steps to mitigate risks. -
You might think someone who has spent decades on infectious disease, like Fow Chee, could make a similar succinct statement and avoid a national economic disaster.YellowSnow said:

The problem with epidemiologists is that they are only focused on 1 part of the equation, and don't have to deal with the economic fallout of getting the policies wrong.WestlinnDuck said:
