They had to sign him. As a long-suffering Dallas fan, the list of failed QB's is deep once Aikman retired. Romo was solid, best draft FA NFL player ever, but he never had a defense to help him out. They either sign Dak and have a chance at the playoffs the next 4 years or they let him walk and now they're rebuilding and back to the days of throwing darts against the draft board trying to get lucky finding a new QB.
