One would hope the serious fuckery of the past 11 months will result in positive changes. I'm not that hopeful. However public education and teachers unions are getting new scrutiny from new scrutinizers, and this is good.

Ain't happening in Oregon or Washington. The West Linn school district spends $15,000 for each student. Tuition for Jesuit High School, the top Catholic school in Oregon, is $16,000. Anytime you hear the left whining about school funding, they are lying and don't give a sh*t about the kids.GrundleStiltzkin said:This Reason.com writer has been doing yeoman's work tracking school funding reform legislation.

The modern lefts Jim Crow law on education is killing inner city children. They don't want those "negroes" in school with their children.

Charter schools and vouchers have failed miserably. They failed with Bill Gates at their back, they failed when compared to our public schooling, they don’t work. That said, that’s really fucking stupid take.GrundleStiltzkin said:But the real reason I poasted. Batshit.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t paid close attention to this. On it’s face, I’m not mad that they’re helping people.GrundleStiltzkin said: -

Obama closed the DC voucher program, impacting many Black students, as he simultaneously sent his daughters to one of the most exclusive private schools on the planet, Sidwell Friends.TheKobeStopper said:

Southeast D.C. resident Gary Jones is no fan of President Donald Trump. “I have major, major, major issues with this administration,” he says. But on one particular issue, Jones adds, “I think we can say they got it right.”
Thanks to a policy change made last month by Trump’s education secretary, Betsy DeVos, Jones’ youngest daughter Tiffany, will be eligible for a school voucher — federal funding to defray the cost of her education at St. Thomas More Catholic Academy, where she’s been a student for the last four years. Her father says he moved her out of the neighborhood public school only reluctantly. But he says the public school was having problems.
“I was like do we keep our child on this sinking ship or do we bite the bullet and put her in St Thomas More?” Jones says. His other daughter, Sabirah, was already at St. Thomas More on a voucher. Jones eventually paid out of pocket to send Tiffany even though he says the move represents a huge financial burden for his family. Jones says he’s tried for four years to get a voucher for Tiffany but because she already was enrolled at St. Thomas More, the Obama administration ruled her ineligible to receive one.
