I really hope I eat crow on this, but it was very amusing to watch people rave about the skills and potential of some kid from Germany who never played HS varsity. Not like just not a starter (also bad), but not even on the varsity squad!

You guys realize he wasn't allowed to play varsity transferring from overseas, right? It was against the rules. It wasn't that he wasn't good enough.

I just saw in another thread that Sonics1993 came to Centralia HS from Germany, played one year there and won a state title.

There are multiple appeals as well. CIF can be on the reject side but the international transfer rule appears to exist to prevent things like a basketball coach who pops by Serbia or Lithuania and brings back some kid who has been a pro since he was 13 years old to live with him.

Meanwhile, Darius Clemons wanted to play pandemic football this fall so he went to Utah. I think he’s back in Portland now. Sounds like Utah cares about football.

I was at that game where Detlef won a state title. With my long-lost buddy Bruce Laracuente from Queens
