Pale Rider

The Color PurpleWhen the guy abused his wife and then had her shave him with a straight razor stayed with me
Profile in courage -
F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...
-
FletchOver the years, I may quote Fletch as much, if not more than, any other movie...

Back To The FutureI don't think any of these were Oscar worthy. They're good but not that level.
I also can't believe I voted against Clint. I like Pale Rider but there's a bit too much cheese on the tin pan side. The preacher character and the villains were all perfecr.

Agree on Pale Rider. Probably the "worst" of his westerns because one of them has to be. Does have some classic scenes and the whole bullets in his back and the grey coat private thugs is great
As is the sledge hammer to Lerch's balls
Color Purple left me speechless and pissed off which was the intention so they nailed it. Oprah's best role IMO as well as a young thin Whoopi -
Back To The FutureFor as much as I love Rocky IV ... it’s far from an award winning movie

F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Rather easily, very egregious omission by Yella.
Also, the Breakfast Club is a worthy consideration.. -
The Color Purple
I watched the Breakfast Club again last year out of desperation for content and it was still goodLaocoön said:Rather easily, very egregious omission by Yella.

Probably the best of John Hughes in the 80's IMO
Maybe we could do a pole of Brat Pack classics -
The GooniesNever seen most of these, Goonies was fun

Back To The Future
Honestly would have to rate Breakfast Club ahead of most of the list now that you mention it. Huge cultural impact and maybe the best of the 80s teen angst movies.Laocoön said:Rather easily, very egregious omission by Yella.

Pale Rider
Thirded on Pale Ride. Good film which has a it moments, but not top tier Clint western. It kept the genre alive - which was on life support at the time - until he could get the right guys in there like Little Bill and English Bob.RaceBannon said:chuck said:I don't think any of these were Oscar worthy. F.O. Row Peter Puffer, you left off...Breakfast Club edges ahead of Better Off Dead for me. 1984 is going to be real tough.
