Who knows how truthful Oregon is actually being, but man, this is disappointing. Particularly so when it de-railed the season. Lake spent all this time mouthing off about how serious we were with COVID and taking all these precautions only for us to get hit with a bunch positives. Now, I know it's not really anyone's fault necessarily but holy shit, we're supposed to be the program with everything together, managing the details, and running a tight ship. Instead it's Oregon who ends up looking like they had it all under control. They're supposed to be the big disorganized mess, not us.

1) Great board selection
2) Increasing proximity increases risk ... it’s not really anybody’s fault per se
3) Larger population centers in theory increases risk that the virus is present ... blows my mind how people think this is a one size fits all perspective -
If UW had any honor they’d send a rep down to Eugene & formally forfeit the game. If it’s truly Covid, then they can’t play next week for the conference championship anyway

Perception is the key. Washington and the rest of the PAC 12 outside of Oregon and USC made a bad miscalculation. They thought being completely transparent would garner points, and make them be seen as putting player safety first. When in fact it made them look disorganized and ill-equipped to handle the pandemic. Elite prospects value safety, but not at the cost of quitting games. If the roles were reversed, Oregon would have held open tryouts to field a team against USC. They may have lost by 40, but they certainly wouldn't give a conference rival a recruiting edge in the upcoming class. Nice guys tend to finish last. This isn't a fairy tale.
