Can we just ban super PACs already? At this point both sides can freely acknowledge that they're nothing more than scam vehicles. Citizens United is a surge on this country and that should be a bipartisan consensus.

That seven-figure spending, noted earlier by campaign finance expert Rob Pyers on Twitter, comes as the group spends relatively little on direct political activity. The super PAC shelled out $364,000 to Galen and Steslow’s companies to run independent expenditures opposing Trump and his Republican allies in Congress. But just 52 percent of that money went to buying and placing ads, with the rest spent on producing the ads themselves.

That’s an unusually high rate for production costs compared to most super PACs. At least 2 percent of independent expenditures from pro-Trump super PAC America First Action this cycle were labeled as production costs, with the rest going to ad buying. And that group has come under fire from Republican operatives for spending donors’ money generously.

So the typical distribution-to-production ratio for ads is 50:1, and that's by an already corrupt group of organizations. In the case of this prominent LP subcontractor, that ratio ballooned to 50:50. $6k to produce, $180k to distribute, and just pocket the extra $174k. And that's from May before the political theater really hit a fever pitch. Incredible amount of corrupt fuckery.

Also your first statement is ironic. Part of Greenwald's article was highlighting just how useless the Lincoln Project was in actually influencing the election. They ran ads mostly in liberal markets with the only intent to rake in more cash from liberals, as opposed to actually influencing politics.

So yeah, fuck PACs.
