I had unreasonably high hopes for Along Came Polly and it was a bitter disappointment. I was a huge Ben Stiller fan at the time thanks to the Meet the Parents/Zoolander/Royal Tenenbaums/Starsky and Hutch/Dodgeball/Fockers run (hell even loved his cameos in Orange County and Anchorman). Had no clue who Hoffman was at the time but he made a perfect scrub on the pickup court. That scene with his sweat enveloping Stiller's face is about the only thing I remember about that movie. Was stunned when Hoffman turned into Hollywood elite shortly thereafter. Or maybe he already was a big deal and I just missed it (I didn't see Almost Famous until years after it came out).
