TSLA up 5% yesterday and another 1% premarket as they announce a recall on 134,951 cars (they have made, what, 500k total cars ever).

Of course Musk says he's off Twitter for a while...there is probably value to TSLA in that...

Yet another example of @RaceBannon 's kooky detachment theory at play.HoustonHusky said:

I’m shocked that Tesla makes lemons. Positively shocked.

I own a '16 Model S 90D and it's been amazing. I almost spent $3K to update the MCU v2 but I hear they dropped that to $1.5k which would give me a lot more capabilities. That said this 8 to 64GB embedded MultiMediaCard (eMMC) recall will fix any minor software issues which were presenting. I don't need the new MCU and love everything I have right now. The Plaid will kick almost anyrhing on the road and get 400-500 miles I believe. I think it will come in at about $150k though so I might hold off for 2-3 years and pick one up with less than 20k miles at a fraction of the new cost. I'm not a tree hugger but I used to drive a shit ton and I like to go fast. I have charged free for over 5 years which equates to about $40k in gas savings.YellowSnow said:I’m shocked that Tesla makes lemons. Positively shocked.

Tesla is cool so people buy it. Shocker

People buy because they think that is the future

Couple guys I work with have Tesla’s and they love them. I always thought their biggest mistake was trying to go after the Camry/cheap car market. Stick with high-end cars, charge a hefty premium, and you have a good business model with a luxury brand image. You won’t have a company worth $800 billion, but you will have a fundamentally sound business.RoadTrip said:

Instead they are aiming for the Camry and in doing so have been undercutting their higher-end cars. Long-term think that is a huge mistake...as an example their sales have been getting hammered in Europe.
But hasn’t hit their valuation yet so what do I know...
