An incident report filed with the Knoxville Police Department said Nugget was taken to the vet "due to severe trauma," per 247Sports. Beasley is accused of hitting and kicking Nugget, as well as forcing the kitten into the toilet bowl before shutting the lid.
Veterinarians determined that Nugget suffered a hemorrhage on his left kidney, a blood clot in his bladder and a broken tail. He was released from the ICU on Saturday.

Typical media rush to judgement. Jump straight to believing the kitten without even listening to the football player's side of the story. How do we know the player hadn't previously endured months of emotional abuse at the hands of this "innocent" kitten? How do we know the kitten didn't ask for it and then change her mind in the morning? What if the player is really, really good at football? Cancel culture has really gotten out of hand.
