Mandalorian

If you like "space as a backdrop," not-too-serious series, two options while you're waiting for another season:
Firefly: Space western, semi-comedy. Doesn't take itself seriously and is really fun.
Cowboy Bebop: I'm not into anime, but I really liked this.
Both of these series are getting older and can be found all over for download or streaming. -
The Mandalorian is so much better than the last few Star Wars movies it’s a joke. I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1, but they’re both engaging and fun to watch. I do wish they would’ve shelled out a bit more for better CGI in the last episode, if you know what I mean.

Time to dig in. I have two days of bachelorhood coming my way starting in about two hours.. I haven't watched a single episode of this season yet. This is going to be an epic two days of lounging.

What is the appropriate age? If I’ve let a 6 yr old watch Empire Strikes back is Mandalorian kosher?
-
Yes, especially if they’re into Star Wars. My nieces and nephews are about that age and love it.YellowSnow said:What is the appropriate age? If I’ve let a 6 yr old watch Empire Strikes back is Mandalorian kosher?

Back to Mando...what I appreciated most about this series is they do fan service-y stuff the RIGHT way...meaning it makes sense to the plot. (One exception IMHO, but I don’t want to spoil stuff for @chuck.) You can tell the showrunners were thoughtful about the overall narrative.

Holy shit that stuff looks bad ass. Disney could really make some of this stuff excellent. Can't wait to see the fighter squadron stuff.Doog_de_Jour said:

Disney has a chance to redeem the sequels with the TV series they're doing in-universe. The Mandalorian is a great start.

I was just talking with Brother_de_Jour about “Rogue Squadron” and he said it’s being head up by Patty Jenkins who did the Wonder Woman movie. She’s the daughter of a fighter pilot and was very eager to do the project.Swaye said:

Yeah her Dad was pretty bad ass. Silver Star recipient in the Vietnam War. Died in a plane crash during NATO combat exercises. Can't wait to see this.Doog_de_Jour said:

So some of my trusted noyd sources said it's a bit more violent than New Hope / Empire which is where I'm trying to stay for now. Maybe I will watch a few episodes and judge for myself. Lil' piss was pissed at me last night for not letting the viewing commence.biak1 said:

There is a pretty violent episode with the Sand People...I didn’t dare turn it off though as I knew they’d soon be back, and in greater numbers.YellowSnow said:

So I’m watching this now. This universe has the least chintuitive control chinterfaces ever.

I mean in 2020 violence terms it’s pretty tame, it’s Disney after all .. Empire had bodily dismemberment, just sayin’.YellowSnow said:
