They roll through a Sabanless Bama in the semi final game with a soul crushing 44-14 win.
The National Championship Game Vs tOSU:
Huskies are 3rd and 1 on they're own 40 with 1:37 on the clock up 24-20. A first down separates purple and gold from they're first NC in 3 decades.
Thw ball is snapped and smashing through the offensive line is the beastly structure of a JT Tuimolouo meeting the RB and knocking the ball loose! OHIO STATE RECOVERS!
Ever the heros of the Seattle based school, the defence rises up with a sack and sideline pass denial.

85 scholarship player limit is socialism then. So are any recruiting rules for that point. Sports are not "real life" and therefore require rules to maintain a semblance of competitive balance.greenblood said:

Throwing out "socialism" is just stupid. All rules are socialism, that's great thinking. Maybe Alabama should be able to play with 12 players on the field because they have so many good ones.
UW has fucked itself as have most P12 programs, mainly with shitty coaches, but the bottom line is that the league has taken steps to leave itself in a structurally weak position.
Getting out of this rut will take more than just winning football teams, but also better leadership, business moves, and possibly league mergers or realignment. -

I would prefer @PurpleJs euro soccer relegation system with 30 teams per tiered league and a real playoff system both for relegation and the championship not some bullshit plus 1. But whatever.
the socialism trope is irrelevant... the goal is to create an entertaining product, not create a marketplace of increasingly competitive efficiency for the consumer... competition entertainment does require some parity. -

I agree it is silly to use the term but I have seen it used against the NFL for years because they put in a cap to keep the Niners and Cowboys from winning every year and it is a easy knock on the capitalist swine that own teams
No limits no caps no rules. 19th century football. Let the best robber baron win! -
I hate how accurate this is. The shittiness of the Pac-12 gives us the illusion that we have something to play for, but we're not even playing the same sport as Alabama, Clemson, or OSU at this point. As much as we doog about potential Rose Bowl wins, which has proven to be frustratingly elusive, the rest of the country couldn't give a shit. The real powers that be are stacking NY6 bowl wins and playoff appearances like cordwood, while the rest of college football diddles itself trying to appeal to an every-shrinking fanbase. A shrinking that is pronounced more than anywhere else in our very own conference.FremontTroll said:I'm pretty much done with college football at this point and its not just because of the Dawgs.
Used to be my favorite sport but the inequity, which has always been a problem, has only ratcheted up since the advent of the BCS championship game and then the playoffs. At least we used to be able to argue about which teams were best now we know its going to be the same teams in the playoffs every season and therefore the same teams getting the top 50 recruits every season and the virtuous cycle continues.
Really no point to any teams continuing to play other than Bama/OSU/Clemson.
Do even tOSU or Bama fans think it is fun to be favored by 30 points over their archrivals? Those are the kind of point spreads you used to see between at top-5 team and an FCS team.
Our aspirations are now defined by continuing our Apple Cup streak, wrestling in the mud with Oregon, and getting back to Pasadena. That's it. That's the ceiling. And that ceiling is no longer even on the national radar. -

I don't think there's any going back or fixing things without a hard cap on how much money coaches can be paid and how much money athletic departments can earn each year. I am pro-Capitalism but it is ruining traditions in all places, especially sports. If CFB is going to continue down the line of professionalizing the entire sport they should follow the NFL model which clearly works for balancing power. -
I truly believe the way college football was before BCS was college football at its peak. When they had about 15 bowl games, and everything came to a climactic finish on New Year's Day with the big 5 bowl games. (The best day of the year). The build-up from Dec 20 to Jan 1 was so much fun.

This is a coincidence, but interesting anyway.
If you want to take it down a bit further, Oklahoma is next in the rankings and they’re the only other team to have played in more than one playoff game. Notre Dame, on the verge of their second appearance since it probably doesn’t matter if they lose to Clemson, is 9th.
Even with not all recruits committed those eight teams have signed 58 of the top-100 recruits, 79 of the top 150, and 97 of the top 200. 21 5-stars and 106 4-stars. All but guaranteed that they will end up with 28/34 5-stars and 36+ of the top 50.
Other teams with a CFP appearance and their recruiting rank:
Washington 30th
Florida State 31st
Michigan State 33rd
In the most recent NFL draft these were the odds of each star rating to be drafted. The correlation between recruiting and both team success and NFL draft success has been going up each year. Recruiting rankings have improved as the industry has become a big business.

1) Get a deal done with direct TV. This is why the Pac 12 network doesn't work. 80% of our largest market (Los Angeles) doesn't get the station.
2) Teams need to start fighting harder to recruit more nationally. We can't base our hopes on California kids.
3) Prioritize football. The SEC, ACC, Big10, Big12, truly give zero fucks about any other sport than football. They realize football is their cash cow, and funds much of the other programs at their universities. The Pac 12 needs to take a similar approach. Promote and support the sports that make money, so then you can afford the others. Don't try and boost the other sports while sacrificing the breadwinner.
4) It's tuff -

You either win or you don't. I'm not going to blame another team's success for my team's failure. That's loser talk, and sounds a lot like people wanting socialism brought into college sports to "save it". It's fine how it is, just win.
4) It's tuff
YoutubeTV is available anywhere you don’t have idawgs dialup.
Get a deal with twitch/Amazon to live stream some games, like the nfl, on their platform too. (and a bunch of the lesser sports no one cares about too)
Re-Host as much content and replays on YouTube as possible for all sports as part of the deal.
You can still do all the silly Nuehiezal playing guitar shit on the YouTube channel.
There is zero upside for the pac12 to chase shitty ESPN SEC type contracts... might as well do something different -
Get the CBS window for the olds and then add your fancy cord cutting stuff

What did you expect? I am a Duck fan that went to the University of Oregon, where I took several statistics classes I didn’t need to, and am now poasting on The Enumclaw Truck Stop recruiting section of hardcorehusky dot com about the future plans of a large, yet nimble, teenage boy.Bonedog said:

5-star: 63.5%
4-star: 23.5%
3-star: 6%
2-star: 1.6%

This isn't even a "lol Pac-12" discussion, though we've certainly done the best job of cementing ourselves in irrelevancy.greenblood said:
The Pac 12 buried itself. It isn't right to take away from other teams because our conference screwed up. The Pac 12 needs to pull up it's pants and fix it.BleachedAnusDawg said:
You're a fan of a team in a conference which has no relevance on the national stage. Same as me. And you think it's fine how it is?greenblood said:

Yeah, this is getting pretty gay. It used to be that teams from every conference could count on regional recruiting for adequate talent but the TV money and social media has generated 4-5 super programs that suck up all the top players.CallMeBigErn said:

Given the talent OSU has, there's a decent chance one or both them don't even contributeCanadawg said:
You're missing the point. Having EE and JTT on Ohio state and running across them in the next few years will be painfulEdwin_Bambino said:
Yea this crop of 2020 talent will take us to the champion in 3 years, for sure for sure. Who knows maybe Sam will really be a baller, other than that happening yea we fucked.Canadawg said:The year is 2023.
The Washington Huskies have had there best year since 2016 with a stifling dawg defence and an efficient ball moving offence.
WOOF WOOF WOOF goes the crowd.
3rd and 13 on the UW 36
A battered grey and red clad QB takes the snap in shotgun steps back and releases! Emeka Egbuka is in double coverage and comes down with the ball in the end zone! TD! TOSU ARE THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
Kill me

4) It's tuff
Every conference not named the SEC has the same problem, to varying degrees. Take the Big Ten for example - does any give a shit about Wisconsin anymore? They consistently put up 10+ win seasons only to get totally overwhelmed by the talent gap when it matters. Nebraska and Michigan are only relevant in the sense that the rest of the country likes to laugh at them for once again failing to return to their glory days. You could have similar conversations about the rest of the lesser 4 conferences.
The current CFP model means the only teams that matter are Clemson, Bama, and Ohio State. Sometimes Oklahoma gets the honor of rotating in for their traditional slaughter. It's a disaster. So we can parrott the usual "nut up or fuck off" tuff talk of program building, but at the end of the day, having virtually the same playoff lineup for six straight years is crippling the sport. And the most recent recruiting rankings don't suggest that that's changing any time soon. -
There's 4-5 schools that know how to sell themselves (they're all shit hole campuses and locations, you can be an NFL star draft pick playing for anyone)
and the remaining 90%+ of the schools have red ass coaching staffs that think it's beneath them.
It's pretty pathetic but we need some of these winners to get caught with hookers and blow or just burn out like Pete did, which we know isn't happening. -
Did we flip him yet?

I'm guessing there will be changes in cfb in a few years like there always have been. Probably a 8 team playoff where there actually will be new winners every few years
-
During his interview with Softy, Sam Huard basically said JTT is gone. Mentioned both JTT and Egbuka by name when referencing how some guys feel they need to go elsewhere to meet their potential and goals. Said he’ll keep reaching out to JTT but at least Sam said he believes he can fulfill all his dreams and goals at UW.Canadawg said:I'm guessing there will be changes in cfb in a few years like there always have been.
