WIAA Delays Football Again

WIAA Season 2, which consists of traditional winter sports, is scheduled to begin with practices on February 1 (January 25 for gymnastics) and end with a Regional culminating event on March 20. WIAA Season 3, which consists of traditional fall sports is now scheduled to begin on March 15 (March 8 for football) and end on May 1. WIAA Season 4, which consists of traditional spring sports, will begin with practices on April 26 and conclude on June 12.
The decision comes in light of surging COVID-19 cases around the state, putting in jeopardy the ability to begin WIAA Season 2 which was scheduled to begin on December 28.
While the Executive Board approved the framework for each WIAA season, flexibility remains at the local level due to the protocols approved at the November 2 meeting. If less than 50 percent of schools in a classification are able to compete in a sport, in accordance with Department of Health Guidelines, the Executive Board will make an adjustment to the scheduled season in order to allow the chance for greater participation.
Due to the delay of WIAA Season 2 the Board voted to approve an extension of the WIAA Open Coaching Window to January 23. The window allows for coaches in all sports to work with student-athletes in the same fashion as the summer coaching window.
The full WIAA Season schedule can be found here.

Let's get Slingin Sammy Huard on campus this spring then
-
Sam Huard needs to opt out of that BS and early enroll like he was originally planning to
-
One would hope the kids would be good to go in March for football. What's unclear is if the Winter season gets scrubbed, would they cancel everything in name of #equity.
-
Sam has to realize how useless a senior season will be for him, especially at the expense of EE. Sentimental value can only go so far.
-
Fuck Jay Inslee. Fuck him and his fucking 'science'.
There's less risk of high school kids catching the vid than the dawgs and hawks but that placates his voting base for a few hours each week.
Let them play, Jay, you faggot.

My @Sources remain hopeful.

This really sucks for kids. A lot of them won’t get the memory of playing a real senior season in their sport(s). Other ones will get one season of real playing time instead of 2 or 3.

Missing sports is bad. Missing school is waaaaaaay worse for the majority. I've tried to be angry about high school and college sports, but I'm just all out of rage from sitting here every day watching what my kids are doing on some school-issue laptops. And that's only because we're lucky enough to be in a district with the money to do that and teachers/administrators who care enough to take it seriously.
We've somehow found a way to make our country collectively even stupider, and I wouldn't have thought that could be possible. We were a couple of decades from watering crops with Brawndo as it is. Now, I'm looking forward to picking up some Thirst Mutilating spinach at the grocery store sometime soon. -
And quite honestly your kids are among the "lucky" ones as in Lucky Dawg of the week lucky because you give a shit. Pretty sure a lot of parents don't or can't because they need to work and stuff1to392831weretaken said:Missing sports is bad. Missing school is waaaaaaay worse for the majority. I've enjoyed what distraction sports have brought but like you I find it hard to be outraged. I'm not even outraged that our business got shut down. I am post outrage -
It’s all about the electrolytes at this point.1to392831weretaken said:Missing sports is bad. Missing school is waaaaaaay worse for the majority. There's no real unified season schedule, no state playoffs. Leagues are starting when they are permitted and can get organized. This clusterfuck was holding up Yakima schools until it was fixed.whatshouldicareabout said:
