I'm going to chime into the Podcast debate.

1) What the fuck with the artsy fartsy iPod car thing? At least the the husky helmet car had our colors dialed in, fuck.
2) Since most of us hate dawgman, can one of you tards bite the bullet and listen to dawgman weekly and do a podcast at least every other week.
I hate to listen to dawgman on KJR but I am a husky slut for anything and the past two weeks they had good guests...of course, every time I hear Kim's voice/laugh I want to choke him but I still listen because I love my team more than I hate Kim and the 3 stooges.
Between Jen Cohen and the three 2014 Washington recruits if you don't listen you aren't telling the truth. As much as I hate to support those fuckers please do a podcast each week to get the 25% of the good shit and then we can all laugh about the dumb fucks they are without giving KJR clicks for those bozos.
And did someone actually say the podcasts were more juvenile than this fucking board? I like this board but I would love to see this place evolve and grow the same as our team now that we have an adult in charge.

Passive aggressive and fucked up the facts. On a private message I said I had stopped listening to the podcasts because they seemed juvenile and I wasn't enjoying them. I later apologized for the poor choice of words that made me look like a hypocrite given the stoogish nature of our boards.
I never ever said they were more juvenile than our boards.
I have since listened to a couple of episodes and enjoyed the discussion.
I think what influenced my judgment was subconsciously comparing them to the HHB podcast. Not fair because those were at a supremely high level of dialogue.
I do agree that it would be great to see the level of discourse on this board increase. I think it will and I have plans to help make it happen. -

Its worth mentioning that the halfbrain inside jokes never got as played out as the HH jokes already have. I'm looking forward to this fall, and this board taking a step forward to be the place for husky talk. I think its time to let dawgman die with the memories of sark. But to do that this place needs to get a little more broadly accessible, and as much as we think we're above it all, we're already suffering from groupthink and asskissing (75k?) -
I am rarely serious, as I am rarely lucid. But, in a small moment of serious lucidity, I must admit that I think this board will take a step forward come next season. We will then be the only genuine alternative to other dreck out there that allows you to let your hair down while also reveling in winning football, with no pedantic twat pimple moderation.
Good times. -
This thread reminded me that I should donate to the cause, and so should all you fuckers.

@DerekJohnson FYI I wasn't calling you out...fact is I don't have time to read 30% here but outside too many people bitching about the free beer podcasts I enjoy and would like more. I just started listening to the old HB podcasts. The word juvenile stuck with me as I had no idea where it came from and wanted to give the podcast guys some positive free pub.
I do agree with the group think and ass kissing comment. Just seems like 80% here like to bitch about anything without bringing much value about anything Husky related.
I absolutely hate when posters say I hate our fans, we are our fans morons.
This place is ok but if Bob hadn't left the ST husky blog I would have Zero reason to visit this place. It's easy to get sucked into the juvenile dialogue/group think here but this current model will die now that Sark is gone and we have a real coach.
Frankly it's time to be happy if you are a true dawg fan. I know I enjoyed lurking more than since I started posting but that's just me. Just my 2 cents.
-
there is no model. the boards are a reflection of what we're thinking. If the Huskies start the season 7-0, you don't think it will be happy times on here? Or do you think I will be banning and deleting everyone who isn't negative?
as far not calling me out: fair enough, sounds good.

World Cup season can't come soon enough
-
Is that really a question? We have had the best off season in at least 13 years, Sark is gone, and we have a top 5 college coach with a brand new stadium and half the people here still find a reason to complain about something Husky related.DerekJohnson said:If the Huskies start the season 7-0, you don't think it will be happy times on here?
And no I don't think there is pleasing half the crowd here. I'm playing catch up here and on the HHB podcasts, just into the Sark hire on their podcasts. I actually enjoy @iDawg and @RaceBannon podcasts and hope they make a return as well as chest, road dog and little Jimmy but I think its clear why they are MIA here. -

This dick wagging contest between hardcore husky and the podcast was stupid. Both are desperately needed in the pantheon of husky sports "coverage."
My only suggestion for the podcast is to (1) have a set release date each week instead of a random schedule, and (2) incorporate more posters from this board. It was fascinating to hear what passion sounds like, for example.
For this board, the cool kids should embrace the new guys and X's and O's talk more. There was a nice breakdown of the secondary the other day (yea, a little tl,dr) that was mostly met with jokes. -
It's June. The players are always working out harder than ever in June and everyone is buying in like never before in June.chrisvashon said:This dick wagging contest between hardcore husky and the podcast was stupid. Both are desperately needed in the pantheon of husky sports "coverage."

Show me what you've got in September then pop off. -
Oh ffs. I swear we have way more "can we actually talk about football" poasts than those same people attempting discussion.chrisvashon said:

Start a fucking thread about some sort of topic regarding the team you want to talk about it isn't that hard (and dont start it with some smartass comment about how this bored never actually talks about Xs and Os)
Or the all whiny drippy cunts can continue to post about how no one ever talks about football (which is completely false) instead of adding anything of substance to these so called football discussions.

that'd be great but I don't think their mom gives them access to the computer if they haven't finished their homework so really hard to "schedule" it. I know sometimes they seem to sneak out to the garage and record it in the car with a flashlight though.chrisvashon said:

All I have go say is can't we get back to talking X's and O's?
Oh don't expect me to talk X's and O's I just want to complain about lack of X's and O's. -
Trying to upload an image to replace the car but its not working. I didn't know anyone actually looked at the image. In that case, I should just pull a screenshot from lemonparty.org.

I hope the level of discourse on this board does increase. I realize that for many thins is just a place where crude jokes and crotch grabbing antics can be practiced, but until that stuff tones down, this will not be a serious discussion board for Husky football. I know myself and a few others joined here over some issues at the other place, but I was really looking to join in on the kiddie stuff, I want Husty football talk. Anyway, that's my two cents worth. If money is the issue in bettering this place, just say the word and I'll send you another $25.

The biggest issue is that it's the offseason. There is absolutely nothing to talk about that can't get covered in 10-20 posts.Vegasdawg said:DerekJohnson said:Passive aggressive and fucked up the facts. My take on the podcasts vs the old HHB podcasts are this:
What made the HHB podcasts so appealing was there was no script or attempt to be a show. Unlike this current one you break it down to segments where you spend 15 mins talking offense, 15 mins talking defense, etc.
With the HHB podcasts it was two friends venting about Husky football and we just so happened to be the audience. They never worried about who was listening or what anyone thought. While you guys mention listeners in every podcast so you obviously worry about listeners.
The HHB podcasts had good satirical humor to go with it. Some real good clever witty comments in there. While with the new ones I feel like it's Adam Sandler humor where RoadDawg is just trying too hard to be funny.
The new ones doesn't flow as well either. You claim you rehearse prior to your "show" yet when Road or Chest makes an inappropriate joke Little Jimmy is always laughing awkwardly then tries to move the topic to somewhere else. I feel like that is your biggest problem so far is you don't know what you want to be. Little Jimmy obviously wants this to be taken seriously while Road views it as a joke, then Chest is typically in the middle. While with the HHB ones iDawg and Race didn't always agree but they were always on the same page.
I also liked with Race and iDawg they would always bring up the past. Talk about the James era, the pain of the Lambo years, the myths surrounding Rick Neuheisel. Nobody ever wants to talk about that. I'm always meant with "quit living in the past" so that was refreshing.
I think in the podcasts you can tell Race and iDawg know their shit when it comes to football. They also know the Doog script and openly mock it. Like after the Nebraska loss Race praising Callier and going "I can't wait until he's a senior and he's forgotten. Doogs will be saying bench him we want new young kid X".
Ultimately, what made the HHB podcasts so well and what is hurting in these new ones is they were genuine. While you guys seem scripted. There is a reason why your ASU podcast was your best one IMO. We finally felt the raw sense of emotion from all three of you after a horrible loss. There was no X's and O's breakdown it was just a bitchfest which after a bullshit loss like that was needed.
I'm sure you three will slam my critiques but as someone who has listened to every episode in the past(I don't know if I will in the future) I'd say be more genuine. If I want to listen to a "show" I'll go listen to a show. Podcasts are supposed to be free emotion with no rules which is what made Race and iDawg's podcast so quality. -
I like the podcasts, and I don't bother comparing them to the HHB ones. They are what they are, and I think they do a good job. You keep making them, and I'll keep listening.
-
I appreciate everyone who has listened. We are just trying to talk husky football. It's not really any more complicated than that. If you enjoy it, great. We have gotten emails and it always cool to hear that people enjoy them. If you don't like them, no big deal. You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings.
If race an idawg start podcasting again, I will gladly tune in. I wish I was around to hear some of their old podcasts. It's never been a competition. I like this board a lot and Podcasting with Cornell and Chest has been awesome. I think we are all getting a little restless waiting for the season. Hopefully we tear it up and have some things to get excited about. -
We aren't trying to be the old HHB podcast which was great years ago. An unscripted podcast will lose its listeners and dwindle to nothing. You have to have set topics first, then you can let things roll.
I started it because there was a desperate need for a new voice for husky football. Dawgman is a disgrace, Softy is a pussy and the lead reporter Jude is a lazy fuck who openly roots for a rival team. This is a lemon party of lead voices in the media. Absolutely pathetic that there is no source for cutting edge, honest, incisive discussion and analysis.
Our goal last season was to put Sark on the hot seat and shift fan expectations higher to where they should have been. We weren't concerned with listeners then. However, the audience slowly grew and picked up considerably after the ASU debacle. Since that growth the podcast listenership has almost doubled. So as the fortunes for the program turned with Petersen, interest in the podcast has grown.
Little grass roots shit matters. I don't take myself seriously but I do take seriously the fact that if we do things right- have the right mixture of analysis and humor that we grow to the point where we become a real voice for husky football. We know that Woodward knows about HardcoreHusky. Surely, someone has mentioned HuskyFanPodcast to him. I'm not taking credit for anything but maybe just maybe our podcast brought up some points somewhere that Woodward or someone else important took into account or at least looked at or considered.
We even have a cult UCLA following now. A UCLA fan reported on their scout board that he discovered this via our preview of UW-UCLA last year and said we predicted how the game went quite closely. Those fans enjoy the calling out of Yogi Roth and analysis of why Sark is a mediocre coach and an all around douche. -
I'm too ADD to listen to a 50 minute podcast, but the haters are really pressing on this. Listen or don't, wgaf.
-
I would love to jump on the bandwagon and start a podcast or join a conversation. I never listened to the older race and idawg segments, but the current podcast is solid.
Cockus does have a few valid criticisms, but it's nothing worth trashing the whole show over. Chemistry is a little off, but it's a simple listen or don't scenario.
The real problem is there is pretty much nothing to talk about right now. The players are all working harder than ever before, attendance at workouts is up, they are all buying in to the new staff, Soak, light, burn (lather, rinse, repeat). -
so here's the thing... go to any podcasting app or iTunes and do a search for washington huskies and you'll find only two options:
Option 1, the dawgman show where they might perhaps spend 30 minutes saying nothing about the practice combine results from 39 rows up in the stands. Riveting.
Option 2, HardcoreHusky where you get jokes and strong opinions.
I don't understand how anyone could actually complain about the HHB podcasts. If you don't like them because of the content or profanity then don't listen, but to judge them when nobody else in the world gives a shit any about producing UW content is a bit disingenuous. -
Option 3, since it's the offseason I downloaded Race and idawgs podcast, like 4 years worth and I am in year 2.Meek said:so here's the thing... go to any podcasting app or iTunes and do a search for washington huskies and you'll find only two options:

while I love the podcast, +1 to this comment. Make the 1 hour show into 3 20 minute shows to release over the week. I'm not sure of the operational cost of doing that for you guys. but an hour is tough to give my time to, and inevitably when discussed the audience will gravitate towards 1 topic over the 10 others covered in the 70 minute show.doogsinparadise said:I'm too ADD to listen to a 50 minute podcast, but the haters are really pressing on this. dude, just give them 15 minutes each time you drop the kids off at the pool for half a week - you got the show. who is asking you to listen to the whole show in one go? i'm a HHB podcast shit listener myself - it's a win win.
