he needs to spend some time in prison. The face the president made a trade for him, and hasn't lifted a finger to get the ex-marine out of the Mexican jail is appalling.
I think the motive is to shut down gitmo without having to transfer the prisoners to the U.S. His promise top close gitmo is 5 years overdue and he can't do it...unless he figures out how to release them all and make it look like he is doing the Lord's work. Hopefully now the Taliban will take some more hostages so Obama can trade the rest...problem solved. -

Yep. Swaye, the punishment for "desertion under fire" is execution by firing squad. Article 85 "in time of war" desertion has not been, and will not be charged in Iraq or Afghanistan. Article 99 "misbehavior before the enemy" might be in play, however.
