Negotiating with terrorist

Very interesting development occurring with Obama's team releasing 5 very dangerous dudes from Gitmo to get one American back.
The law was clearly broken. Obama did not notify members of Congress this was occurring, which he is required to do 30 days before it goes down.
I think Americans will look at this and say ... hey we got one of our own ...
The one thing I have always liked about Obama, he does what the fuck he wants to do and fuck you if you don't like it.
It does shock me how the media gives him so many free passes.

Couldn't decide whether to upvote or downvote this. Good analysis on broken laws and free passes. But I disagree about having an out of control elected (in bold) official thinking he can do whatever the fuck he wants and fuck you if you don't like it. This ignoramus has singlehandedly set America back 20 years with his idiocy, his lunacy, his international and domestic bumbling, his utter disregard of constitutional law, his constant stream of lies and above all, his inability see his own faults, apologize for them and correct them. If anyone can provide proof of a single thing (just one) that he's done to improve the economy instead of harming it, to strengthen our hand in international dealings and respect, or in any other broad category that affects us all, you deserve a trophy.topdawgnc said:Yes .. Reagan did it. And people went to jail for it. So lets just get that out of the way.

If you tell people to fuck off if they don't like it, and they don't do shit back at you. Who's fault is it.
He broke the law, numerous times ... he wasn't held accountable ... he will continue to break the law until he is.
American's don't take this shit serious enough to realize what he is doing. -
how is he different than any other President?

Maybe you need to call someone who has the place dialed in. -

I made statements.
Then, I actually stated I admire this fuck you attitude our existing President gives.
I also said ... Yes Reagan did it ... a veiled statement to say ... I don't give a fuck about other Presidents, lets talk about the law that was broken and the stupidity of Americans to go along with it.

president has such vast power WRT foreign policy - it has been a constant battle between the legislative and the executive branch every time Congress tries to impose their will on foreign policy, and usually Congress is unsuccessful.
This is why I tend toward an outcomes-based view of Presidential foreign policy - if it works, you win. If it fails, you were wrong. -
Does vast power exceed the written law?AZDuck said:president has such vast power WRT foreign policy - it has been a constant battle between the legislative and the executive branch every time Congress tries to impose their will on foreign policy, and usually Congress is unsuccessful.

well... if it didn't then could the power really be considered vast?
-
that's the thing. the constitution gives vast powers in foreign policy to the executive. Congressional attempts to rein in this power have not been very successful. theres no clear cut black and white answer, as this is one of the friction points in the separation of powerstopdawgnc said:

I guess when a law says "Notify Congress 30 days prior to the release of prisoners from Gitmo"AZDuck said:that's the thing. the constitution gives vast powers in foreign policy to the executive. The President, who signed the bill into law, can say ... there is no clear black and white answer.
What laws does a President have to follow? -
The Prez will invoke his powers to conduct foreign policy as the prisoner release was part of negotiations with the Taliban. If Congress wants, they can try to impeach. They don't have the votes, though. See "Dolan Amendment." Lather, rinse repeat.
If the GOP wants a constitutional crisis, they can have one. I just don't think it will succeed. -
