The Offense

If they think morris is the best we have, they are beyond fucked.

Maybe, but not sure Morris was bad either. He was serviceable and didn't make any major mistakes in his first start. Outside of the pretty bad long pass to Bynum and the passes batted down at the line of scrimmage, he didn't get much early help from his receivers. Then, we inexplicably decided to just run the ball straight into the middle of the defense for approximately 10 snaps in a row at the end. Would have been nice to let them give Morris more of a chance to seal the game. I'd say his grade is incomplete so far, but he didn't take any sacks and he moved when he needed to. He also gave receivers a chance to make plays, but they didn't.
The more scary thought is they weren't able to adjust the game plan to Morris's strengths...that's a coaching (John Don) issue. -
Did Morris run backwards twenty yards while shitting his pants? No? Then he was fine. If Bynum catches the pass on the first drive, Puka catches the ball on third down and Jones high points the pass in the end zone then Morris doesn’t seem so meh. The batted passes at the line are what concern me most. He’s short and throws at a three quarter angle. Lineman jumping up and batting down passes will happen all year.

Morris looked better than Browning did in his first game against BSU. He also looked better than Lindquist did in that game he played, and better than Cyler Miles in general. (I know, tallest midget). Other than the deep ball he didn't throw any wildly errant passes. Nor did he throw a pick or take a bad snap. Open up the playbook a little and let him see what he can do.theknowledge said:Did Morris run backwards twenty yards while shitting his pants? No? Then he was fine. In pouring rain Morris did not make any mistakes and he threw some of his best passes on third and long for conversions.
He should have had a TD pass to Ty Jones, and Odunze also almost had one but the defender made a great play.
No ints, no sacks, as others have mentioned the big concern is the batted passes.
I want to see what he looks like in a game played at a normal hour of the day and not in a downpour.

First off, it was not good. It is pretty clear that Morris was not who they wanted to start. Thomson was probably the guy.. either way this is not the attacking offense that lake thinks it is.
