Kawasaki is back to DC. He's probably the best DC in CFB, certainly better than Lake.
Not worried about the D at all.

I recall getting ripped for saying we regressed when Kawasaki stepped back for JimmyGladstone said:Kawasaki is back to DC. He's probably the best DC in CFB, certainly better than Lake.

Good news is Jimmy can still be a great head coach and Coach K can help him get there with a stellar defense -
i’m with you all the way Gladstone, couldn’t agree more

Love Kawasaki. D should be really skrong the next two seasons.... but it will go to shit soon if they don't fire Will Harris and Bob Gregory.

In defense (lulz) of Jimmy, the defense improved over the course of last season.

I dont remember but I might have partly disagreed. My thinking was that Kwat wasn't going anywhere, may still have full or at least partial input on how the D was called, and that Lake had been running part of the defense for long enough that he should be on about the same page as Kwat even if his calls were fully autonomous.RaceBannon said:

As it turned out I was close, but not quite right. Lake didn't call the D as well as kawasaki and it was noticeable. It wasn't a huge gap and it's hard to account for all the variables (like personnel). I think we saw enough to know Lake was a small downgrade as the DC though. Kwat being back in his position makes me feel better. -
We? have had a bad third down defense for a couple years. Kind of started against Penn State. That has been most noticeable to me. We couldn't get off the field against our Norte opponents except WSU and OSU of course

He had some major problems in 2014, possibly in parts of 15 as well.

Agree for most part. However, the defense improved over the course of the season, and was not the primary dark cloud of this shitstorm.GrundleStiltzkin said:In defense (lulz) of Jimmy, the defense improved over the course of last season.

I've gotten so used to UW being bad on third down I don't even notice anymore. I know it hasn't been 100% consistent all years, but I learned to assume third down was my least favorite defensive down way back in the 90s.RaceBannon said:We? have had a bad third down defense for a couple years. We’ve come full circle and in 2020 “5 reasons” will no longer be a gag but a genuine argument once again.
