Get Out The Vote Campaigns

Alright Tugsters,

I’m watching the West Wing Reunion on HBO Max. It's one of the many specials that’s been put out recently to generate interest in voting.

Now, as much as these try to bill themselves as “bipartisan”, I think most people would agree their messaging slants very liberal/Democratic.

I realize this is mostly because Hollywood/entertainment leans left, but what I’m curious about is if there are any conservative/Republican “get out the vote” efforts. Do any of you know of any?

From what I’ve been hearing registration by Republicans is going through the roof.

Not sure whether that was Levin’s show or Glenn Beck or Shapiro. May have been Joe Paggs show.

Also hearing reports that driving through Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania it is a solid mass of Trump signs and American flags. That was anecdotal via an independent contractor of mine who was driving back to NJ after dropping his daughter at school in Michigan. No link. Don’t twist.

Interesting. But no formal efforts to get people to register without it being tied to a particular candidate?

Reason for me asking is I just wish these voter campaigns would drop any pretense of being neutral. It’s a bad look for the Democrats if you ask me. I would have zero problem with them saying “go vote...for my candidate!” Transparency!

Do they get some tax break or public funding if it’s presented as bipartisan? Sneaky way to side-step campaign finance laws?

The evangelical right generally does a lot of grassroots voter registration stuff. I've seen plenty of voter registration drives at churches, Christian colleges, etc. They're not nearly as big as the lefties glossy media campaigns, but I imagine in aggregate they get a fairly significant amount of voters registered as well as registered voters encouraged to take advantage of their right to vote.

Ah. Forgot about that. The Christian church I grew up in was pretty liberal (by Eastern WA standards), so I don’t recall anything like that, but I know some religious leaders (of all faiths) aren’t shy about talking politics from the pulpit.

Overall, we are probably better served if less people vote, tbh

I think it should be difficult as fuck to vote and you should have to pass a basic civics test to vote. Not kidding. If you do not know anything you shouldn't fuck up the world for the people who do.

Idiots voting is much more dangerous than idiots driving, and they make you take a test for that.
But then Dems take control of the vetting process and then what?
They already control the vetting process. How do you think we got Obama? Guy couldn't get a security clearance to empty trash at a defense contractor company.

With all due respect, please never use "Ann Coulter's position" in the same sentence again.

My mind went to some weird sexual connotations and I'm just not strong enough to unsee that.

The shit I hear from work, from college educated people no less, makes me agree

My Jewish friend in his mid 60s and me are the only ones who are going to vote for Trumpet. It's not that we love the guy, we see him as the lesser of the evils. We've both started to just leave conversations when they wish ill on Trump supporters or whine about how awful white people are/were...

"College educated" means absolutely nothing to me. And unlike creepy I'm also totally unimpressed with someone's accreditation. Take Fow Chee for example. The guy has been a phu*ck up his entire government career. As far as I can tell, there is almost a complete fail at educating our youth in anything that discusses common sense and intellectual integrity. Asking a college educated leftard to discuss almost any issue with some basic factual support and you get crickets. Like, "please describe examples of systemic institutional racism." You get crickets on the topic. You get a lot of sh*t like someone called me a bad name or a short white lady asked Mrs. Worf to get something off the top shelf.

I've had my fill. Every god damn commercial has to have 18 minorities and the white guys are clueless cucks. I might become a Tug wing nut and move to Coeur d'Alene if not for snow four months a year.

    Athol is the new CDA.

You're kinda equidistant between Hayden Lake and Ruby Ridge there.

If I can figure out a way to spend winters here and keep my meth head cousin from hitting me up from money, that might be a plan
