I'd imagine he's a RT who gets covered up on the strong side by a TE/HB.RoadDawg55 said:
It’s not. Get him lifting and eating and it will be corrected. Worse case scenario he’s not a mailer and is a pulling guard with help inside. He’s still one of our best commits. All the tools are there.FireCohen said:

The clips I saw showed him a bit light but also on his heels in his back pedal. He was knocked backward easily by powerful guys. Easily corrected. How many defensive ends like that has he ever faced in real games?DoogCourics said:Wiltfong:
While Rosengarten may not be having the week he wants at the point of attack, struggling some in 1-on-1s (especially speed to power from the elite defensive ends), I still love his long-term projection. His feet are terrific, he can bend, and he has a frame with a lot of room for growth. I like him as a red-shirt guy before developing into one of the best offensive tackles in the country. He’s tough, long and most importantly athletic.
“He admittedly says his weight is down because of basketball but he feels he can easily put on the weight that Washington wants him to weigh when he gets there (280ish),” Huffman added. “He’s taken a number of reps and worked at both right and left tackle and looks more comfortable at right tackle.
You can't teach his kind of quickness at his size though and his highlights show him destroying people on both offense and defense. I still think he's a top 3-4 guy in the class when all is said and done. -
He's probably a good guy ... and a history of injury (so I hope that's a legit excuse) ... but watty appears to have had decent mobility, average athleticism and a giant pussy.FireCohen said:

That, or he needed old skool supplements to reach his potential. -
I'm not worried at all. I don't expect Rosie to contribute until RSSO year. Should be fine.
-
Another thing to remember is that the guys Rosey is going against are top prospects. These are some of the best players in the country. I would imagine he would look pretty damn gold against the majority of kids that are going to play D-1 CFB.
-
watty moves very well, he just get overpowered or can't move people. Maybe the injuries took the toll on him, but I thought he would be really good by now, but he has not improved that much from last year.

This, and William Anderson literally ate up everyone he went this week. Destroyed all he faced.RoadDawg55 said:Another thing to remember is that the guys Rosey is going against are top prospects. i am very bullish on Rosengarten. He has a meanness that you can't teach. I actually think these moments when he gets pushed around by bigger guys is good for him.
-
"It's one of the strongest friendships I've had even though I've only known the guys for four or five months (before he committed), but as soon as we all met each other, I knew Myles (Murao) from UCLA before, but we ended up all meeting at Washington on our official visit and (Murao) was like 'I'm going to commit' and I was like 'I might too' and sure enough he committed a little bit later on the visit and in a couple hours at dinner I committed too, so it was a lot of fun. We all knew Geirean (Hatchett) was a silent commit, but we were all together at Mark Redman's house when he sent it out on his twitter that he was committed, so it's really great."
I honestly don't really remember a time when a position group was so tight knit. I have no idea if it will help them be better in the long run, but I'm sure it won't hurt. -
Redman wasn't the only Husky that got one over on a future Duck. Left tackle Roger Rosengarten took defensive lineman Maceal Afaese down and pushed him to the ground as Afaese was trying to get around the corner during 1-1's.

But way better to add size/weight when you already have the compete, aggression and skill ... rather than the other way around. -
The majority of OL who develop into high NFL draft picks are skinnier, more athletic guys who redshirt and fill out in their early college seasons. McGary and Andre Dillard are great examples of thatanimate said:

If he was soft I would be somewhat worried. He’s not. I love how aggressive he is. Just bulk him up and he’s going to be really fucking good.animate said:

OL class was major this year. First time we have had 3 or 4 top level guys that won’t be out of place as a junior vs the blue bloods.
Huff has to get them dialed in and knowing who to block. That’s half the battle and we seem so fucking bad against the blitz and routinely fuck this up. -
That has been the failure to date. The whole starting five plus a couple of key reserves win the overwhelming majority of their matchups. They just dont seem to match up with anyone at all on way too many snaps.RoadDawg55 said:

I believe it was Millen who all year tailed on the blocking concepts. He said they were all 20-30 years old and didn’t make sense with today’s football and schemes.RoadDawg55 said:

He wasn’t sure if that’s Huff or if it was the weird fucked up offense that Pete ran. I’d think it was the latter since the offense also had 47 formation shifts and motions to confuse defenses. Wouldn’t surprise me if some weird blocking schemes were a part of that. Simplify the playbook and simplify the blocking scheme. -
Pretty sure it's been reported they use a bizarre pass pro system wherein tackles block down and guards are responsible for the edge rushers.DoogCourics said:

FWIW, during his interview with Softy when Lake was talking about the NFL style offense he was wanting to run, he mentioned running NFL blocking schemes. So it points to Pete’s retarded offense of trying to outsmart being the reason the blocking scheme sucked and not just because Huff taught it. -
An offensive line coach is there for technique based on the system and packages installed by the OC. Huff is not the problem. You can't block 6 with 5 especially if the opposing d sends a 7th --a delayed lb dog --with a 5-step drop from your QB.DoogCourics said:

No more excuses for Huff. Produce or get the fuck out

Its not that bizarre or uncommon in the NFL. Its just another tool in the box thats a bit more complex for OL to learn.Emoterman said:

Against a 3 (odd) front defense the Center and two tackles block down to take the defensive front, The guards do what is called an "in/out read" where they read the Mike and/or buck and will pop outside to take the Will and/or Sam if the middle backers drop into a zone.
The Back is on a hot read for a swing if the Will or Sam is blitzing.
Its used in spread sets. -
Partially true. I don’t know if it was scheme, QB error, or OL fuck ups. Abundance really. I know defenses disguise things, but hot routes are how to beat the blitz. All I really know is that we have been awful against the blitz for years.Baseman said:

I don’t know enough about our scheme to really know what was the main problem, but I do know we suck and rarely make the opponent pay for being extra guys.
Eason was bad even when extra guys weren’t coming. He had no feel in the pocket and I remember times he either stepped into pressure or felt it when it wasn’t there. It’s mostly a natural feel some QB’s have and some don’t. After accuracy and decision making it’s the most important aspect of playing QB. The great ones all know how to slide around. Tom Brady runs like a 5.8 40, but he’s amazing at making little adjustments to give him time to throw. -
didn't this kid sign in December? How is this happening now...
more importantly how DF is that logo on our official paperwork?

Yeah he signed in December, its probably just his school doing a ceremony with all the athletes

No hedging needed. We want him bad. He's one of the top-3 OT prospects out West. They'll push hard for him, therefore there's 0% chance he's going to Oregon.dhdawg said:
I kind of agree with you. I'm not sold we're gonna push super hard for him which is why he may go to Oregon but if we want him I think we can win this one.StrongArmCobra said:Rosengarten is 100% going to UW. Blue-collar, hard working, physical kid from Colorado. Not a flashy guy. UW aligns with his identity and he also want to major in Business. Give him and his parents the Built for Life presentation as well as information about the Foster school of Business and it'll be a wrap. There's a reason UW got the last visit and we've never lost a recruiting battle to Oregon when we get the last visit. Don't know or care what the crystal ballers have heard. He's obviously going to UW. Will be a huge commitment that could motivate Hatchett to join him soon after and that would easily be the best OT class out West.

Turns out he signed 5 in a 22 person class for 23%. So he was actually well behind the pace for the slots he was given.HillsboroDuck said:
If we take 4 OL then his position accounts for roughly 20% of the class and the 19.6% of outstanding offers being to OL is perfectly on par.NorwegianHusky said:
I'm just asking. Seemed like he's been throwing out a lot of early offers relative to other position coaches, when there's still time to close.HillsboroDuck said:
I'm worried about youNorwegianHusky said:Is there a particular reason why Huff has already offered 40+ kids in this class? Should we be worried?
I stand by that assessment, though I think Courics did a good job of putting it into context. That was the type of response I was looking for.
If we take 3 OL then his position accounts for roughly 15% of this class and he's a bit ahead of schedule but hardly at an alarming rate.
I'm hoping for a 4 man OL class, quite honestly.
Also he had arguably the strongest performance of any of our position coaches save perhaps Adams. -
