The ChiComs would argue their central planning did that.doogie said:
Which it probably did to some degree. The real gains were made by offing Muslims and other dissidents. Reduced the denominator.
Toss in some man made virus deaths and a collapse of a big ass dam too.

The ChiComs don't actually give a shit. They centrally plan because they can, and they profit off of the spoils of capitalism when it's prudent to do so. Ideology isn't part of the equation, pure economic power is the only thing they care about.PurpleThrobber said:

Ideology is very much central to all that the CCP does.GreenRiverGatorz said:

The biggest problem with central planning is that it is stagnate and stifles innovation. This can be offset by stealing the sh*t out of a competitor which isn't stagnate and does innovate. This would be a failed strategy if the competitor decided not to put up with the intellectual property theft. This election is about that.GreenRiverGatorz said:

The ideology of authoritarianism and "the state knows best" sure. But I don't think anyone in the CCP actually cares about the merits of communism vs. capitalism or anywhere in between. Those are just mechanisms for their unending march towards more power.UW_Doog_Bot said:

Power includes capital. Putin is less powerful because of American fracking and running the price of a barrel of oil down from $130 to today's price of $40. Similarly, the chicoms are not particularly innovative and substitute it with theft. The thief is less powerful if it harder to steal and has less money. The Japanese had central planning and that got Sony out in front. Samsung and Apple have left them in the dust after Sony couldn't figure out what the public wanted and how to get to them.
