5) Van Halen – Van Halen IBoston was revolutionary when it came out, nothing else like it in 76. You had tight, clean Zeppelin-ish guitars over a strong bottom end, with upbeat, almost poppy vocals / harmonies, and lyrics that were more relatable to a 16 year old than the mystic, dark, satanic (maybe) stuff that dominated 70's hard rock up to then...the same can be said with VH1 in 78...they re-invented it, again...
