Word to your mother.
I'm for mothers but against Mother's Day brunch. I have refused to go for about 18 years now. -
Just another created holiday to prop up the big greeting card.

Does big greeting card have to pay taxes, or do they get special favors?allpurpleallgold said:Just another created holiday to prop up the big greeting card.

Damn that George Bush and his Big Greeting Card buddies

Bigger question....do you hate the actual brunch or the idea of brunch?MikeDamone said:

The idea mostly, I think. It's a cliche ritual that annoys me because certain family members are so into it. That said, the typical brunch is a odyssey of overpriced mediocrity. Shitty buffet, not enough alcohol, food that doesn't do well together. Etc. just a fucking dreckfest of a meal.HuskyJW said:Bigger question....do you hate the actual brunch or the idea of brunch?

I'm for the brunch because I've never paid for one.

So Woodrow Wilson in "Big Greeting Card's" back pocket?allpurpleallgold said:Just another created holiday to prop up the big greeting card.
In 1914 Woodrow Wilson signed the proclamation creating Mother’s Day, the second Sunday in May, as a national holiday to honor mothers. -

I think the Big Greeting Card lobby got together with the Big Brunch lobby and made a successful run at Wilson. As many did.TheGlove said:
