Rumours - Fleetwood Mac1977 is one of the most fucked up log jammed years in this shit pole series. All of the LPs are all timers for me. But is what it is. Rumors is the most perfect pop rock record of the 70's most likely.

Rumours - Fleetwood MacIs there a more prefect yacht rock song than Dreams? Doubtful

Rumours - Fleetwood MacExcept Peg might be the best Yacht Rock song. 1:45 is the greatest solo in the history of rock.

Aja - Steely DanThis is torture...own every album, seen all (‘cept the Pistols)...For me, I count 4 that I wouldn’t lift the needle on, and that may be light...

I play the shit out of it on Lake Union on Tuesday nights. Our skipper hates yacht rock but I usually tell him to fuck off.GrundleStiltzkin said:

Best Rumors track
Lindsey Fucking Buckingham. Killer axeman. TUFF. No guitar pick.
Yella, stick that on your turntable and spin it. -

Not Rumors obviously but this is a pretty kick ass live performance from the early days. The camera angle is great and you can see the odd techniques. Sometimes he hits the string with the back of his finger. Pretty cool.Baseman said:http://youtu.be/JDG2m5hN1vo

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac@Mad_Son continues to impress me in this exercise.

Rumours - Fleetwood Macrough choice, hard to choose "Dreams" over "Scenes from an Italian restaurant" but several albums listed are extremely worthy.
Was one of the two Talking Heads listed supposed to be, say, Slowhand? (would have had a hard time not giving that my vote)
Or maybe Bowie, Queen or Skynyrd?
-
Rumours - Fleetwood Mac
Slowhand? Lol!! There are like 10 more worthy albums in 1977 but Rumors is the clear big dick swinging album of the year. We are just arguing about podium spots after that.NoWarningJustDawg said:rough choice, hard to choose "Dreams" over "Scenes from an Italian restaurant" but several albums listed are extremely worthy.

Let There Be Rock - AC DCRumours is great but ROCK>POP
And it came to pass
That rock 'n' roll was born
And all across the land, every rockin' band
Was blowing up a storm
And the guitar man got famous
The business man got rich
And in every bar, there was a superstar
With a seven year itch
There were fifteen-million fingers
Learning how to play
And you could hear the fingers pickin'
And this is what they had to say: Let there be Rock!

I didn’t have to put this one in @dflea but was pandering to the south sound logging camp liberal vote.dflea said:Rumours is great but ROCK>POP

I appreciate the enthusiasm here, really. Best solo ever is crazy talk. My dad had this record and I'm pretty sure it was one of the albums that I turned in to a scratch record during my DJ BleachedAnusDawg days as a youth.YellowSnow said:Except Peg might be the best Yacht Rock song. 1:45 is the greatest solo in the history of rock.

Rumours - Fleetwood MacDare I say that Fleetwood Mac on the whole is underrated ...
-
The Clash - The ClashThese are worthy candidates for consideration in 1977.
-
The Clash - The ClashThis was a great year and a hard vote. I realized I really like every single album on the list.
-
The Clash - The ClashHow did I forget about this one?

Low and Heroes have some interesting tracks but to me just aren't peak Bowie. Yes, he was cutting edge with Eno in Berlin but I'm definitely more glam Bowie or Plastic Soul Bowie.Laocoön said:These are worthy candidates for consideration in 1977.
Television is a great fucking record. It's top 10 for me that year, but I intentionally leave out stuff that I think might be too niche for this space. -
Aja - Steely Dan
Better than Jailbreak -
