To be fair a homeless man could probably draft as well as most NFL teams.

He could. I don't think any sport has as many idiots in it than the NFL.

Most of those are pretty good picks. I'm taking 1980 on. I don't give a fuck about before then. I'm sure the NFL has as many shitty picks such as Courtney Brown, JaMarcus Russell, our very own Steve Empterman, Tim Couch, David Carr, the tackle last year. The NBA has limited options when picking players. For one, most the players aren't any good until they have played a few years. Most drafts only have 5-10 guys who will ever be starters on teams that get past the first round.

Every NFL draft is full of good players. Most guys are good within a year or two. Everyone in the league just copies each other. It has more group think than any other league. I don't think Carroll and Schneider are geniuses, but they sure seem like it compared to most the bozos running the other teams.

The NBA is easier to project. Things like shooting, rebounding and steals translate from college pretty well. If you take a look at contracts in the NBA you'll see that they're as stupid as anyone though.

I'll never forget George Karl's reaction to the McIllvaine contract. "We signed who for how much?"
