Safeway's grass fed beef not so much

Safeway and their fake meat “essential.” I do wonder how you know what horse meat tastes like, but OK.DerekJohnson said:Back when rumors began that we might have meat shortages, I went and bought about $100 extra to stock away in the freezer. But then ten days ago I took one out and cooked it and it tasted like horse meat. I looked at the label, big letters says grass fed. But very tiny print it says 15% grass fed, 85% regular or whatever. So today I threw it all out, and I'm now viewing Safeway askance
Local meat market that sources beef from meat brokers “nonessential.”
Democrats in 2020. Everything is a scam. -
Ate horse meat once in Honduras. Was actually pretty good once it was smothered in some homemade peppercorn sauce.
I think it was starting to go bad but instead it had a really nice “aged” flavor with the spicy peppercorns.
Not anywhere near the worst thing I’ve eaten. 6/10. -

Have you had it with store bought peppercorn sauce? It doesn’t do horse meat justice compared to homemade.Houhusky said:Ate horse meat once in Honduras. Was actually pretty good once it was smothered in some homemade peppercorn sauce.

No, you have to hand mash the peppercorns and then strain the paste through an old pantyhose to remove the grit... the other leg was used to strain the coffee grounds. real key artisan stuff.MikeDamone said:

Store bought veal Demi glaze? Sellouts. If you're not making your own veal Demi glaze you shouldn't be in business.LoneStarDawg said:Au poivre is the shit, even in THIS VIROLOGY

What the hell kind of beef did you buy? bottom round steak? the only steak that is decent from a Safeway is the ribeye or t-bones. Unless you are cooking the other shit for a couple hours it is like shoe leather.
Go to a butcher. Double D in Montlake Terrace, Reichart's in Centralia, and can't remember the name of the one I know in Olympia -
Owens in Cle Elum. B&E in Burien. Met Market in a pinch.LebamDawg said:What the hell kind of beef did you buy? bottom round steak? the only steak that is decent from a Safeway is the ribeye or t-bones. Unless you are cooking the other shit for a couple hours it is like shoe leather.

I have steaks in my freezer from Butcher Box. I'm talking about ground beefLebamDawg said:What the hell kind of beef did you buy? bottom round steak? the only steak that is decent from a Safeway is the ribeye or t-bones. you’re 10x better off buying a whole filet at Costco or even Cash&Carry and just butchering it yourself than buying beef at Safeway. Hell, buy a meat grinder for 100.00 and do your own with Chuck roast from C&C. If you’re in a hurry and can’t get to a butcher, Met Market is the only grocer I’d use. When I lived on QA, A&J Meats and Seafood was my go-to.
