More shocked at the tone-deaf/blindness to the consequences associated with failing to nip this criminality in the bud. For a region that prides itself on tech and designing artificial intelligence and coding and shit, they certainly disregard cause/effect logic to their detriment.

Totally agree with the first part, but not shocked at the tone-deaf/blindness. Politically, Puget Sound took a hard left with the incoming migration of so many from Northern California. The tech you're referring to is based on new technologies primarily supported by an insular class that has been thoroughly indoctrinated by our "education" system. Generally ignorant, entitled, hive minded people with very little life experience or true understanding of human nature. Their understanding and exposure is typically limited to addictive behaviors, coercion, manipulation and the like. Deeper thought and reasoning are generally absent and of little interest to them, many react violently or with cancel tactics when challenged. In my view the resulting absurdity, lack of common sense, reactions and misguided "solutions" are predictable.
