Oh she’s at a whole new level now...sonics1993 said:Or how about Ruth who stated a few weeks back that she was very confident that Troy was going to be a husky. Bet you she will say that Oregon used negative recruiting against Troy and pressured him to commit.
“And the reason I brought up the seven blocks in Seattle that have been taken over by underrage morons is because I heard that this was disturbing to recruits right now. This is becoming a problem for Husky recruiting, if you don't like then write your Mayor and government leadership -- It's not like I come on here just to blow smoke up your ass. I talk to recruits and sources every single day, who do you talk to? Your cat? Your neighbor? Where's YOUR site?” -
But Junior has proven himself to be a good recruiter through 1.5 cycles. The fact that we got blown off by Troy and Emeka even with Sam in the boat leads me to believe it's purely cause of Donovan and his awful track record.sonics1993 said:
Some of it yeah but fact is most of these guys can't recruit. Say whatever you want about Mario but the guy knows college football is all about recruiting and he assembled a staff reflecting that.insinceredawg said:
Is it fair to lay the majority of the blame on the recruiting, particularly on the offensive side, on the WTF hire of John Donovan and how easy it is to negative recruit against that?sonics1993 said:
It's dead. Been saying for the last couple of months, it's going to be a very ugly summer. Just hope there's football in the fall, hope they allow official visits in the fall and that Jimmy doesn't shit the bed in the first four games. That's our last hope to salvage this class.Mooser42 said:

For Troy, yeah that was a huge factor. I meant in general for all the recruiting misses Washington is having.insinceredawg said:

If our offense is decent (30ppg, Sirmon throws for 3000 yards/20 tds) and McMillan or Rome are solid contributors, do you think there's any chance Troy reconsiders?sonics1993 said:

Is there a chance sure but I'm not getting my hopes up. I have heard a lot of bad things about this staff from neutral people about how they are recruiting. Jimmy is basically screwed for the next two years if they guys can't coachinsinceredawg said:

Coming off an 8-5 season where we didn't play the best players, Pete quit. Our 1st year HC hired an assistant rb coach who prefers the east coast, doesn't like to recruit, and failed as an OC at a Power 5 school.insinceredawg said:

Then we kept our esteemed LB coach who can't recruit and played Kyler Manu over better younger plays.
All, go over swimmingly well over those Zoom meetings.
We handed Cristobal the sword and begged him to stick it in. -

You keep splitting the difference. You’ve been saying UW recruiting is dead but also said UW would finish second in the conference in recruiting. -
I almost hate to ask, but how solid is Sam?
-
I just said that to get Kim off my back. But i'm still holding out hope that they guys can coach and we will have a successful season which will lead these recruits back to us. And there are a couple of wildcards that could commit to us but until I see Jimmy close, I won't get my hopes up.FKA_Mousecop said:

@sonics1993 can you speak in general of what this staff is doing wrong? Im reading a couple reports from 247 where recruits say they speak to their positional or area recruiter but not so much Jimmy. Is he not taking recruiting as seriously as he should? Is the message not being sold correctly? Did jimmy know hiring j donovan would be used against him like everyone thought? -
I think he underestimated how badly Donovan would be received. Donovan's name is absolutely being killed right now and it's working because the guy can't recruit. It this offense does well the first four weeks, a lot of that negativity will be put to bed and you will see a lot of recruits give Washington a second chance but if he fails then it's going to be a disaster.UDubHusky23 said:

can you speak on why jimmy lake is so bullish on J donovan? i just dont understand why lake would be so willing to put his rep on the line for a guy with such a bad track recordsonics1993 said:

I'm so fucking disappointed in Peterman and the whole Jimmy lake situation.
What should be the decade of awesomeness for uw is becoming the decade of duck dominance and we helped give them the dildo to fuck us . ... -
That's absolutely FS Jimmy didn't realize that would happen...kinda frightening actually. Nobody GAF about a TE coach or an assistant DB coach which is why this response didn't pop up the first time. Will be interesting to see his next coaching hire/decision...will know real quick if Jimmy has a clue or will be a 3 year and done/lifetime DC.sonics1993 said:

Can't fucking wait till Sirmon and Don Jonavan average 40+ ppg. So much material to bump.

I’m rooting for a Tom Rinaldi story about how Donovan was crying and downing shots at a shitty Jacksonville dive bar before being miraculously hired by Lake and leading the #1 offense in the country. Maybe the old bartender dies and that motivates Donovan. It won’t happen, but I’m rooting for it.CallMeBigErn said:Can't fucking wait till Sirmon and Don Jonavan average 40+ ppg. If he’s got a pulse, he should be highly motivated by the story that Moorhead came in and turned around his shitty PSU offense. I assume he has a real hard on for the Oregon game.RoadDawg55 said:

What’s the highest number of recruits we’ve ever flipped in a year 2? 3? Trying to get an idea of how fucked we are.

I feel like every time we hate a hire it ends up being good. If we like it. It sucks.
