FBI? Wouldn't an agent identify himself right away? The cops seemed to put him in cuffs before asking for ID. That seems messed up but the man and his friends didn't do themselves any favors either.

Never needed to go as far as it did.

Hooligan and Bob, I wrote that the arrest is messed up. All I'm trying to convey is when police approach you, it's best you cooperate and be polite regardless of the situation. I've been in cuffs 5-7 times. I've been pulled over at least 15-20 times. I'm not making any excuses for unreasonable cops but I am stating from experience any interaction with them goes better if you're compliant and polite. My whiteness didn't help when I was a drunk asshole. I'm sure it would have been even worse if I was acting this way and not white.

The FBI agent gave them the rope. They hung themselves. The cops were being dicks and the agent knew they were fucked

As soon as they saw the badge they folded.

The point is the agent was sitting there under no obligation to submit to the cop

Agreed, and the guy was totally within his rights to not submit but just thought it could have been handled better by both sides. Maybe the way FBI agent handled it will leave a greater impression on the cops and detour them from doing it again in the future.

I completely agree but when dealing with arrogant and ignorant people escalation never helps. Escalation with people who have guns is even worse. I thought the agent gave them the rope to hang themselves with, which they did, but the clown show around him didn't help. I've just learned I'm never going to win that arguement and doing exactly what I'm told helps more often than not. It helped me just recently in fact. The cop could have fucked me because I was 35% in the wrong. I complied, was respectful and had my chence to explain once the real asshole exposed herself. The cop ended up fucking her. Patience and prudence finally worked and it only took me 50 years to learn. Whether I ever find it again in a tense situation remains to be seen;-)

Man can I relate to this. Just because you're right doesn't always mean that you have to force the issue. Took me 10 years of marriage before I learned that you never really "win" an argument.

Now if only everyone had the rights that an fbi agent has...
