Brian here. So in the latest Communist Chinese virus update we have found ourselves in a little bit of controversy.
Apparently there is a list of businesses that have been complained about to the State of Washington. I was made aware of the list on Friday, which consisted of an Excel spread sheet with the name of the business, some notes about violating the Governor's order, and (unfortunately) some contact information for the informant(s). We appear several times on the list.
Predictably some people have apparently gotten their hands on the list and now at least one of the informants is getting harassed.
I recently got an email from someone who complained about Norpoint and they threatened legal action against me and our business because someone contacted them through this list. I can say unequivocally that nobody employed by Norpoint took that action.
Let me state, in no uncertain terms, that I do not want anybody, affiliated with Norpoint or otherwise, to take any sort of action against anybody who is listed as a complaining party on that list. I'm not sure how much clearer I can say that.
The truth is that people are on edge right now, and there is a great divide between people's approach to this pandemic. While I might disagree with the people who chose to call and complain, the truth is that I was also calling and trying to get direction from the Governor's office, and I'm sure that I sounded frustrated and angry.
So from my perspective, anyone who complained about us to the State of Washington has a right to their opinion. On the other hand, we have spoken to many people, including law enforcement agencies, who have told us that they never thought that we should have closed down in the first place.
We are scheduling law enforcement training which would not have happened if we were closed. We are selling firearms to law enforcement which would not have happened if we were closed. We are assisting the ATF to trace stolen firearms, which would not have happened if we were closed. We are helping new gun owners learn how to use their brand new firearm safely to minimize the risk of accidents, which would not have happened if we were closed. We have helped empower people who have been the victims of crime, which would not have happened if we were closed. I have personally talked several people out of buying a firearm because it was not appropriate for their lifestyle, which would not have happened if we were closed.
All of those things have taken place in the couple of weeks since we have re-opened. Office supply stores, liquor stores, and marijuana stores are all considered essential businesses. Not one of them assist law enforcement, or helps keep the public safe around the use of firearms. I think that if I have to explain why I think that we are an essential business, I will have no problem in doing so. Therefore, please leave the people on that list alone...it only makes our side look bad and gives ammunition to the people who think that the 2A community is irresponsible.
