I’m a landlord.
Come to me with a real hardship before you stop paying and we can talk. Of course I’m going to want to see your personal p&l in details and propose line item cuts to the discretionary spend that you think is more important than rent before I agree to any payment plan. Of course you’ll need to sign that plan.
If you aren’t proactive, I’m going to be pissed and shame you financially, it’s my only recourse. Government taking away shaming is the worst thing that has happened to this country, it’s led to everything else.

I gave up being a landlord. 3 months of not paying (had a property manager) then finally getting a check and getting paid. Then going thru it all again - so I axed the PM to get rid of them. that took 4 months cause he had to do it legally. Finally got a payment, PM paid me, then tried to get me to refund the $$$ when the check bounced. Fool he was. I told him to go after the renters as I have taken the property off the market.
Did $1500 worth of repairs to the place to get it livable again. PM was MacPherson Realty. The renters went on Section 8 about one month after renting. What a nightmare -

I actually did this as a renter on my trip to the abyss. Came out and said I have a problem. I had an excellent track record, agreed to weekly payments, had just got a job again, and paid the late fee until back in good graces.Bob_C said:I’m a landlord.

As you know as a landlord, finding someone that will pay the rent and not burn your shit down is worth keeping -
