Captain of aircraft carrier with growing coronavirus outbreak pleads for help from Navy

This seems like a great opportunity to see how many healthy young sailors get nothing, get sick, get really sick or get really sick, need ventilators and aquarium medicine. I venture to say that a cold is what most experience. The 100 that have it now are reported to be fine. Seems to me we are at war. I'm on the front lines every day selling food to scared civilians and now our sailors on the TR are too. Take this as a 4000 person petrie dish of soldiers in a war. Get real, hard data out of this situation.

This seems like the kind of response we'd expect in China where a whistleblower was fired for not keeping bad news to himself.YellowSnow said:Looks like the Skipper is having a couch sale

Never mind... looks like this captain isn't be fired, just relieved of his command. He is keeping his rank.

Trump is the king of the "I didn't fire him, he resigned" re-assignment move.MontlakeBridgeTroll said:

Flounder Vindman was reassigned to Greenland, wasn't he?

So details will be very vague -
"For these reasons, I lost confidence in his ability to continue to lead that worship as it fights through this virus to get the crew healthy,” he added.
I;m not sure that the Navy should be relying on worship to fight the virus -
Let’s get more yes men in positions of power.

I don't know if it's accurate or just CYA on the part of the Navy but according to them they were in agreement with the Captain that they needed to get the sailors off the boat and into quarantine and were working towards that end when the Captain went outside of the chain of command when he leaked his letter to the press.ThomasFremont said:Let’s get more yes men in positions of power.

If the Navy's version of the story is accurate the Captain did deserve to removed of his command.
-
It looks bad but the Navy takes that stuff seriously
Kind of low on the outrage meter at the moment.
The yes men are our beloved fellow citizens lining up like sheep to be led to the slaughter -
I get that it looks bad but anyone who has ever served in the military or knows about the importance of the chain of command knows that what the Captain did was a big no, no. Again, all of this depends on if the Navy's version of the story is accurate.RaceBannon said:It looks bad but the Navy takes that stuff seriously

Captain is a moron. You don't send a letter like that knowing it will go public and undermine a forward deployed warship, no matter his intentions. He should have been canned. The end.
-
Did the DOJ can Mueller for going outside the chain of command? Mueller knew from the beginning that there was no basis for the investigation. Warship in the area of Chicom operations. Nice status report Captain.

It was a major breach of security, there had to be some sort of action taken against him.
