We are obsessed with high 3/low 4 star tall CB’s. It might be good and I’m sure some will end up good players, but a good 5’10” or 5’11” CB is still better than an above average guy that is 6’2”.Neighbor2972 said: -
I think obsessed is strong. We took Murphy, McDuffie, eventually schollied and started Bryant for three years, played Budda in the slot, etc.RoadDawg55 said:

I think Lake definitely seems to prefer taller guys on the outside but he hasn't been married to height/length at all costs like say the Seahawks. -
Last two Folsom dudes did not work out for us

Yeah, that playoff appearance really sucked.FireCohen said:Last two Folsom dudes did not work out for us

I think it’s more that Jimmy ignores the star rankings and just goes after the guys he wants. I think, along with Oline, CB is one of the areas where these scouting services especially suck, outside of the no brainer Ringos of the world.RoadDawg55 said:

Anecdotal but from what I recall most highly rated CBs have tended to perform really well. Jimmy has gone for a lot of highly rated guys he just doesn't seem to like the work of the top of the top level guys when he can get a slightly lower rated kid and still turn him into an All American.OreDawg said:

I agree there is definitely a correlation between star rating and performance most of the time, I just think CB is a position where guys can be easily missed or disregarded by lesser trained eyes. It makes sense that Jimmy would target guys that ,ignite be slightly easier to get whom he thinks can be turned into all Americans, especially considering what our recruiting budget is compared to our competition. Thanks, Cohen.dnc said:
