I remember my hanging on every word of a president that I hated phase. In my defense I was 12 when Nixon was elected and 18 when he LEFT so being obsessed over his every word to stoke a seething hatred was a teen angst thing. Not an adult thing
I have listened to about 10 minutes of Trump on COVID, last week when I did my drive around. Other than that I get my news from here and from twitter breathlessly saying the latest stupid thing Trump said to get people to drink Borax
I've never been impressed by the skillful use of a speech writer or teleprompter. Probably the most inspiring presidential speech I recall was the barely literate W telling the world they could be with us or the terrorists. That lasted about a week before the 90% approval caused fear and loathing in DC
