Coronavirus killing more than a person an hour in NYC

Absolutely, looking at it with a critical eye, it's great news. My assumption all along is that the shit is everywhere, and assuming transmission rates are accurate (not sure about that), everyone's been exposed. Given that, increased testing will show widespread exposure coupled with extremely high survivability.RedRocket said:
Agreed but there is some positive news that comes with increased testing. Politico article showing that Washington is doing pretty good at keeping positivity rates low. New York looks fucked.GrundleStiltzkin said:
I predicted 10 days ago that widespread testing will increase public fear dramatically. I was right.UWhuskytskeet said:Here's some more. NY is fucked.
UW medicine has been doing a good job pumping out tests. BONE EM!

However, popular opinion seems raised to the level that COVID is a death sentence, thus the fear borne by testing. That will turn around, but will need a media/political messaging change. -

A virus doesn’t just disappear. They either aren’t testing or are just lying about it. And they’ve reached a point where they feel that if your high risk, too fuckin bad. Stay home, the rest of us have lives to live. That’s where the US needs to be by April 15th.SFGbob said:Anyone think this is true?
I mean, we had 900 new confirmed flu cases in Oregon last week which will end up killing more people than Corona has altogether in this State. It’s here, it’s not going anywhere. -
If WA public schools are reopened Apr 27, how many will send their kids back?

I agree but the problem is that a significant number of people who aren't high risk are still getting sick and requiring hospitalization. They won't die from it if they receive proper treatment in a hospital. They will die if they receive no treatment.salemcoog said:

That’s the whole fear here in the US and why we will be locked down soon everywhere.SFGbob said:

This wouldn't surprise me. They may have come to the realization that there's no way to stop this so let it go, people will die, but it's a better option than completely crashing the global economy.SFGbob said:Anyone think this is true?

Somebody needs to raise and feed the little urchins. Their parents don’t.GrundleStiltzkin said:If WA public schools are reopened Apr 27, how many will send their kids back?
