USC thinks Donte Williams is heading there

1- hes a hell of a recruiter. Has probably been the best recruiter on Oregon's staff
2- he's not a great coach. His biggest "success story" for one of his commits has been...I dont know... Demodor Lenoir who was a very high ranked 4-star recruit and will probably be a mid-round pick. Fits in well with USC recent history of turning 5 star recruits into 3 star players.
3- I think I read he was the lead recruiter for Justin Flowe, who almost signed with USC. Could some Kaho-ing be afoot?

I’m in favor of this. Flowe heading to SC sounds good to me.

Normally I'd say USC is a great spot for taking a good recruiter from another conference team. Now, I'm not so sure.

Would be a huge get for USC and a big blow for Oregon if this happens.
-
It’d be a great get for USC but a questionable move on his part just because we all assume Helton is getting canned at some point this year. Why go somewhere the coach is going to get canned and not know if you’ll be retained.

Where's this noise coming from?
"Legit source" or a bunch of internet recruiting nerds hugging it out on internet forums? -
All things being equal, why would someone leave the job security of Oregon for the dead man walking situation of USC?
-
Scott Schrader. He’s been wrong a lot more recently about coaching stuff than he’s been right, however this looks to a lot more realistic than say Urban. He does seems fairly well connected to the players though, he’s been the first to mention things like Steele leaving UF-> Oregon ->USC.

the obvious answer is Williams relishes being named the interim head coach at USC by Oct. 24 and then he's likely receiving one/both of a guaranteed 3-4 year contract plus AD Bohn will ensure that the next head coach retains him "for program stability reasons".DerekJohnson said:All things being equal, why would someone leave the job security of Oregon for the dead man walking situation of USC?

I get it. He’s being paid significantly less than Heyward. And in addition to being the PAC-12’s number 1 recruiter, he has Graham, Lenoir, Wright and Holland on PFF’s top 30 returning defensive backs in the nation list.DerekJohnson said:All things being equal, why would someone leave the job security of Oregon for the dead man walking situation of USC?
Either Fill Night writes a big check. Or he goes to LA knowing in a worst case scenario a super recruiter won’t be on the unemployment line long. -

He could be picked to stay and if Williams is confident he can get another job easily, then it’s not that big of deal. He has a track record that will go beyond what happens at USC this year.Theironshiek said:It’d be a great get for USC but a questionable move on his part just because we all assume Helton is getting canned at some point this year. Williams may find another job rather easily, but where those offers come might be the problem. It isn't guaranteed that a Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio St., LSU, Clemson, etc. come calling. There's a chance his best offer after USC cleans house with Helton and the rest of them, might be a Nebraska, Kansas St., Boston College, type. Still Div 1, but not near the money he was making at Oregon and especially USC.RoadDawg55 said:

I wonder if they made a run at Will Harris

Why would they?insinceredawg said:I wonder if they made a run at Will Harris

Would guess Malloe is more likely. There's a reason we made him co-DCinsinceredawg said:I wonder if they made a run at Will Harris

Out with Nansen and in with Milloe. That makes sense purely for the Poly connections.Neighbor2972 said:

USC has been so incompetent with hiring coaches that its surprising when they actually make a reasonable hire. They should be poaching guys like Donte every year from Pac-12 schools.
Oregon will be fine though, I'd be surprised if this hurt their recruiting at all. -

Can he take Flowe with him to SC?
-
Flowe could go if he wants to sit out a year.
-
Ask Kaho and Eddie Vanderdoes about thatTheironshiek said:Flowe could go if he wants to sit out a year.

Watch them bring back Tre Watson.

Yea
I feel like if he hasn’t enrolled in classes he should be able to switch schools if he wants. Donte was the corner back coach though so while he helped recruit Flowe, Wilson would be his actual coach. The NCAA has shown no consistency in enforcing any of the transfer policy. Look at Steele and Bru for example.bananasnblondes said:

All a kid has to do is say "Due to a change in plans, I don't plan on playing at School A and ask that they let me out of my LOI."Theironshiek said:Yea

No school is going to play hardass with a kid because of the bad press it would create and the NCAA wouldn't enforce it. -

Best move in recruiting all year for USC. This is their 5 star lol
