The first Clinton campaign gave out packs o heaters in certain areas to get voters. I doubt they were the first to do so.

I have never heard or seen Reps giving anything away to get votes. As a democrat I have actually driven a van through the seedier side of Portland and given free sack lunches if the bums would get on the bus and let us take them to vote.
I heard another rat complain that Trump was just buying that little girl and the black vote with that scholarship. I reeled off a laundry list of rat promises just during this election cycle alone and that shut her up real quick. -

This is actually true. The right has does it with tax cuts, the farmers bailout, lets not forget W’s $1 trillion dollar stimulus. The Left does it with entitlement spending, and now upped their hand with free healthcare, free college, and UBI. But yes everybody does it to some extent. My post about sack lunches was pointed towards the campaign trail not making a statement about promises during the campaign.
Anyone who has the perspective that letting people keep more of their hard earned money is a give away or some sort of vote buying, has been horribly indoctrinated by the left. It is painful to even see my fellow Americans think that way. It is the exact opposite of what the founders believed and represents so much of what socialists, fascists and communists believe.
