How Much Does Your College Spend Recruiting Football Players?

Big boy schools at the top of dollars allocated and percentages of that used for football. Oregon State seemed more aggressive than I'd have considered.

Surprised Utah spent that much. Maybe it just cost more to fly in and out of there?

UW falls behind such football powers as
Illinois
UCLA
Kentucky
Rutgers
Iowa st.
Utah
Kansas
I see a lot of basketball schools that want to be football schools pretty bad. Can ST Cohen come up with 350K to at least compete with the top 15 schools in the country? I mean they saved that in salaries this year. At least pretend you want to win a championship. They talk about it, BE ABOUT IT! -
I see a lot of schools wasting money.

It’s not $350,000 worth, but we save money flying into a city airport and not needing connecting flights or expensive flights that land in the middle of nowhere.theknowledge said:UW falls behind such football powers as

I can’t say for certain, but we probably brought guys on trips less than most schools under Pete too which means less hotel rooms and flights. -
When dads won't fly, that's one less plane ticket the university has to buy for visits. Everything matters.

That's my thought too. We offer way less kids than most programs.RoadDawg55 said:

That being said, this doesn't take into account coaches salaries and such. Which isn't a great analysis given the restrictions on what you can spend actually recruiting. -
Try harder. The end.

The one thing that would really help would have more staff completely devoted to recruiting. I think that is where we fall behind a lot of these other schools. We aren’t as invested in the program’s success as much as we should be.

Bingo. If we're lucky enough to save money on flights, or we benefit fiscally from selectively offering, we shouldn't shortsightedly ferret that money away but rather spend it somewhere else. Recruiting staff, social media, more QA/analysts.RoadDawg55 said:The one thing that would really help would have more staff completely devoted to recruiting. Maybe being hamstrung by our terrible P12 media contract limits the headroom of what financial benefit can be reaped, but big time P5 football is a place where money well spent is rewarded with multiples in revenue.
